He was dead on tonight....Called the administrations plan..The worst thing he has ever seen. I agree with him..this bill is terrible.
The banks should HAVE to pay this back...and we as the ones that they are going to STEAL this damn money from should DEMAND it. This plan does NOT insure that those that screwed up will have to be accountable and thats just plain WRONG. 03-banghead

These damn sick people are going to not only steal from me...but...from generations yet born... This is sick and these people need to be held accountable.05-mafia

I listened to Bush's speech and, while there was a lot of noise around me causing me to miss some of what he said, I thought he said the government would eventually be paid back when they sold back the assets in the future. Did I hear it wrong?

now i'm not an expert. But i'm not seeing an abstract date here on when IF ever the government would expect to be paid back.

And the mayor of Dallas said that the Hotel he is asking the city to buy would not be taxpayers purchasing the hotel ... it would just be the city providing bonds that would be paid back (and then some) by the profits from the hotel. Because nationalized industry has proven to be such a great idea...

Something that really bothered me about the public-private prosecution (lawsuits) of the tobacco industry is the tremendous opportunity for abuse. I'm sure that Democrats are still reaping fundraising benefits from putting trial lawyers in position to make billions of dollars (at the state and national level). And now the potential for abuse is substantially greater than those lawsuits. Would it be legal to mandate that anyone that works for or owns stocks of any of the affected corporations never be allowed to donate to any campaign? Back to reality, what impact will this have on future elections?

Its really sickening...The company I work for (Hardwood Plywood Manufacturer) has been struggling for the past 2 years to stay afloat.
We have laid off and downsized to meet the market demand for our products and done prudently what was necessary to stay solvent. 10 years ago..we employed over 200 ...today..less than 50.
We have only worked 4 out of the last 6 months, with the remainder being temporary unemployment. It has been the hardest thing in my life to accept and cash those damn checks. 03-puke

I know what my company has gone through, which has mostly been caused by this housing crisis...and now...the government is just going to steal from our employees to finance the incompetent business practices of the very people that are the cause of our troubles. I cant tell you how sick and disgusted I am today. I want so badly to punish those responsible for this. Sadly, I know that the politicians will do as they always do...punish their enemies and reward their friends. Those that caused this mess are their friends.03-banghead

Am I to assume you're blaming the corporations only?

You know...I started a new thread today wondering if we all were to blame for this mess..Then I realized...I had NOTHING to do with this.
Ive never paid a dimes interest on a credit card (Hell I dont have but one)..I put down 20%+ on both houses I have bought and I have never owned a new car. I dont even have a damn car payment. I have used dollar cost averaging in my investments and only in long term index mutual funds. Ive never gambled with any of my damn finances...(with the exception of my annual Vegas trip with my golf club..which I save for!) This crap is NOT my fault and I am PISSED that I must now pony up and bail those that have acted irresponsibly out.03-banghead
