The cross country championships were held in Boise ID his week and USU won the men's title while Idaho won the women's. USU finished second in the women's, and Idaho took second in the men's. While I would like to see more success on the football field for both teams, we did run away with this sport. (Pun intended.) :) Here are 2 links about it and congrats to both teams.

Every WAC sport counts for something, and is an appropriate topic for this board. If you don't care about a sport, why put it down? Why comment at all?

Congrats Vandals and Blue Aggies!

04-cheers

I will admit that football and basketball are more exciting to watch, but these athletes work just as hard as others, sometimes without full scholarships. This is also one of the oldest sports in the history of the world.

These guys may not bring in revenue, but put in a ton of hours to perform well in this very difficult sport. (Believe me I used to run cross-country in High School and it can be a very painful experience.)

Who cares? Certainly not you, but this is a NCAA sport and an Olympic Sport so obviously they do. I'm not claiming it has a large fan following, but I haven't noticed you performing at this same level so until you do, don't be so close minded to put down this accomplishment of these athletes.

And to echo clpack, congratulations to the Vandals and Aggies.

It may not be the most compeling spectator sport, but it's pretty hard not to like collegiate track and field. Football and basketball pay the bills and fill seats, but as pure sport, track is unbeatable.

Barkboard, your post is the epitomy of being a *******.

Congrats on your championships...you'll have to excuse Barkboard, he appears to have Pac-10 envy or something.

Congrats to the Vandals and Aggies. Football is the only sport that matters only if you are in the Mountain West.

We're not crazy and unbalanced about what we care about like that in the WAC. Here, football is only 90% of what matters. LOL 03-wink

Cross Country was my sport in high school, so I'm always a fan of it. There's a lot more to this sport than just "running".

In any case, Cross Country and the Track sports are actually sports where the WAC losing the Texas schools arguably took the biggest hits. The schools that just left the WAC not only used to dominate this sport, but were national championship contenders as well. Congratulations to you new members, but as a conference, there is a lot of slack to pick up here! (And in swimming/diving where we'll really miss SMU)

Alright to the Champs. Congrats.

I've noticed only one "negative" comment.. Fresno's showing their colors...

I can't wait for them to leave the WAC.

Nice showing guys, and your first year, impressive.
Does Fresno compete in track? You never hear anything
about it, maybe it was one of the sports that got whacked
due to lack of funds.

GO WAC
