Predictions for this week
WVU @ Maryland
This may be a tough one for WVU. This will be Maryland's first real game this year, however.

WVU 42 Maryland 28

Pittsburgh at Michigan State
This should be a good game. I'll have to take the home team in a close one, 24-20

Illinois at Syracuse
This will be my upset special. The Syracuse defense will rise to the occasion and get some turnovers, leading to a 24-21 win

UC at Miami (Oh)
UC will have a tough rivalry game this week, but will prevail 27-20

Temple at Connecticut
Conn 38 Temple 10

Norfolk St. at Rutgers
Rutgers 45 Norfolk St 3

UofL at UK
UofL had trouble stopping Murray St. They will probably have more trouble with UK. Hopefully they can outscore them, but this may be the year UK breaks through.

UK 49 UofL 45

This would be a miracle and would most likely be the only victory this season...haha, I'll even favor Buffalo against us.

RE: Predictions for this week
I'm feeling fairly nervous about this coming week. A couple very tricky games.

WVU 34
Maryland 23

Intense rivalry game. The Fridge knows how to beat WVU, as he's done it before. But I think ultimately the talent gap is too wide for Maryland to keep up with WVU. If we can avoid turnovers, MD will get their yards and points, but they won't be able to keep up with our speed on offense. Pat White will carry the team to another victory, but it won't be easy. I'm wondering if Slaton has the same speed as in the past couple years. He's bulked up and seems a bit slower, it seems to me. Maybe i'm imagining things. Defense must obviously play better.

Michigan State 45
Pittsburgh 17

I have a bad feeling about this one. Pitt under Wanny has fallen flat again and again in big games against stiff competition, and MSU has already waxed this team once. Pitt has injury problems, and is playing their first real competition - and first road game. MSU dismantled a UAB team that gave Florida State fits. Hopefully Pitt will show they've finally turned the corner under Wanny and notch a big OOC win for the conference, but I doubt it.

Illinois 20
Syracuse 13

Syracuse is due for an inspired performance after looking absolutely putrid in the first 2 weeks, but Illinois has too much firepower on offense for the Orange. They were able to get into a shootout with a pretty decent Missouri team. I look for the Orange to come out fired up and ready for redemption, but unfortunately Illinois won't be an easy out. I look for SU to go 0-3.

Cincinnati 33
Miami U. 13

The UC defense will be the difference. Miami scored points against a woeful Minnesota defense, but was only able to muster 2 touchdowns against Ball State. The Bearcats should shut Miami down and roll to a big victory. Rivalry games are always touchy, but UC should be able to handle Miami with ease.

UCONN 48
Temple 7

UCONN appears to be much better than last year, and Temple - after showing promising signs against Navy - was completely blown apart by Buffalo, one of the worst teams in 1-A. UCONN will dominate early and often on the way to a blow-out victory.

Rutgers 55
Norfolk State 3

Given Schiano's fondness for allowing Ray Rice to build his Heisman resume, his star running back may run for over 300 against this weak 1-AA team.

Louisville 48
Kentucky 42

This one smells like trouble to me. You have two QB's who can rack up yards in a hurry, and two defenses that tend to allow alot of points. UL is on the road and UK smells blood in a game that's gone against them in recent years. You can bet the players have been hearing all year "you HAVE to beat UL this year." But I just think ultimately that Brohm is the better passer and UL has the better receivers, and the defense will be looking to make a few big plays after being embarrassed by MTSU. UL by a whisker - IF they can avoid turnovers.

RE: Predictions for this week
This weekend I'm going out on a limb and predicting the following:

Rutgers over Norfolk State (ok that was an almost given)
UConn over Temple (see above)
Pitt over Michigan State (in a slight upset I guess)
Louisville over Kentucky (the defense will step it up in a rivalry game)
Cincy over Miami-OH (uhh rivalry game or not this is an easy pick)
Cuse over Illinois (upset special for the Big East this week, Cuse will manage to get a couple OOC wins for us)
WVU over Maryland (not sold on the defense yet but WVU will score at will)
USF over Bye Week U

I think Illinois will most likely win this game.

But I like the Orange's chances against Buffalo. 04-cheers

I don't know.... Buffalo whipped up on Temple last week.

I have a feeling that Turner Gill is going to turn things around for the Bulls. And of course, as soon as he does, he'll land a higher profile job... maybe at Syracuse. That would be ironic.

RE: Predictions for this week
It finally happened. I finally had my annual UofL vs. UK football game dream. I can count on having this dream over the summer, but it came late this year. I feel much better now after The Ville has a come from behind 12 point win. Whew!!

UofL had trouble stopping Murray St.

UofL had trouble stopping MTSU, which is bad enough. Trouble stopping Murray? Only if you want to also say UC had trouble stopping SEMO. SEMO and Murray were within 10 total yards of offense in their openers against Big East opponents.

Now to predictions...

WVU over Mayland- Could be a close game, hope the Eers play better in the 1st than they did last week, or they could be in trouble.

UConn over Temple- Temple looked like their old selves last week. The Huskies should roll over the baby owls.

Michigan St over Pitt- Pitt is only averaging 30 points a game after playing EMU & Grambling. That screams weak offense to me. The defense hasn't given up much, but they haven't seen a real offense yet either. I think this game will show why Pitt may be the favorite for 7th place in conference this year. Hope I'm wrong with the pick up in Lansing.

Illinois over Syracuse- Double digits for the Orange would be a start. I don't expect much else.

UC over Miami- Miami seems improved over '06, but this should be a Bearcat double digit win unless they overlook their rival.

Rutgers over Norfolk St- I'm sensing something along the lines of 52-3.

UofL over UK-Should be more of a game than I was expecting pre-season after seeing the UofL D last week. I don't expect to shut a top 30 offense down, but I'll be dissapointed if the D doesn't show solid improvement. UofL wins unless they start turning it over.
