RE: Rutgers Fans????
Sad article. That's the one aspect of the college football experience that I really despise. There seems to be zero sportsmanship these days.

To single out Rutgers is unfair, I've heard it at every stadium I've been to, and certainly WVU is not immune. It's especially embarrassing when the foul language chants are picked up on TV audio.

That being said, it is particularly classless when it happens against Navy or Army, IMHO. Hopefully Rutgers fans and other college football fans will learn from this publicity.

I wouldn't single out us folks outside the Student Section either. And we've never had a problem with this in the student section the last 4 years not for Navy or Army anyway. Its one thing to boo them if they make a cheap hit or block sure. But to chant this stuff is just the essence of classless and as soon as I heard it Friday Night I was embarassed that the student section did that. They need to grow up. I blame the bandwagon students who never came to a game before Louisville.

All it proves is that there is a group of drunken morons at that game. How many other games had drunken idiots doing something stupid and obnoxious? I'm sure this wasn't the only example. But since Rutgers is suddenly newsworthy, everything around them is thrown into the spotlight. If the administration is smart, they'll crack down on this kind of behavior quickly to keep Rutgers image from being degraded.

From your mouth to Bob Mulcahy and Greg Blimling (VP for Student Affairs). They've issued a letter via scarletknights.com and are e-mailing the same letter to all students and I'm sure it's going to be in tomorrow's Targum as well. They'll get things under control about booing and cursing at service academies. As I've said its probably drunk, bandwagon students who never went to a game before Louisville. When I've traveled to away games, sat in the rain, watched blowouts not in our favor, etc. all 4 years as a student. And couldn't be happier to have deck tickets when I'd love to be on the field level.
