2011 and 2014. Maybe a place for USF to play the Irish? Granted they could play at RJS, but since that is USF's home field and these games are still going to be designated as ND home games, might be an opportunity for them.

S. Fla is in Tampa and the Citrus Bowl is in Orlando.

Anyway, ND has played in the Citrus Bowl in the past against FSU and Navy.

RE: Notre Dame playing two games at the Citrus Bowl
They WONT be playing FSU since FSU will play in Citrus Bowl 2012 and 2013.
Navy in 2011 is a home game for ND they will NOT be moving a home game to the citrus.
USF is a long shot BUT Notre Dame has promised to play Big East teams and prefers to play them like Rutgers NOT in their home stadium.
So there is a higher chance of seeing Notre Dame vs USF in Citrus Bowl than in Tampa.

Could be one where one of the Gulf Coast SEC schools doesn't make the trip to play UF that year and wants a shot a recruits in the state too.

Navy's "home" games against ND are never played at Annapolis.

The last one was at the new Redskins stadium, I believe.

Others have been at Baltimore and Philly.

ND would never play on an opponents field if they could manage it.

Notre Lame, No Shame, whatever you want to call them are weak and suckful! If they don't want to play on our home field, let them play for someone else. I tell ya what, let's let all our other sports play them at our home and at a neutral site. Do you think No Shame would agree to that deal. No way! They are shameful. Gosh, I can't stand what they think they deserve and can get a way with. More I can't stand the people who let them get away with it.

Guys:

Instead of scheduling eight home games in the future like a number of other teams, ND is moving a "home" game to a "neutral site". They are going to a "7-4-1" format.

It is essentially an ND home game in Florida, Texas or wherever. That is only slightly different than a team like Ohio State, LSU, etc...having 8 true home games.

For instance, ND will control the gate for the WSU game in San Antonio and since it is a "home" game, NBC will televise it nationally.

I have NO problem with that. Notre Dame can play their home games wherever they want. I must have misunderstood. I thought they were trying to for teams to come play them in South Bend and then agree to play them on a neutral site.

I dont think anyone here knocks ND for getting as many home games or "neutral games". I think the reality is that many here think Notre Dame's deal with the Big East is more favorable to the Irish than to the BE teams.
Notre dame's apparent unwillingness to include playing all BE teams in a rotating schedule and or hesitancy to play them away or even play them at all makes many on ths board to question the inclusion of the irish in the league.

Well, that explains a lot.

To me, 'neutral site' games mean a split revenue sharing arrangement, not a 'home game at a neutral site'.

Kind of hard to get a quality opponent when the ticket revenue at these barnstorming venues isn't going to be divided equally or when the TV monies go all to ND.

Certainly hope this isn't going to be the case when they play Rutgers at the Meadowlands.

Cheers,
Neil

When ND plays Rutgers at the Meadowlands the game will be a home game for Rutgers. I don't care how many ND fans there are in NYC. The sea of red will make any green or gold invisible.

Rutgers should get all the money too. 04-rock

I'm sure the Alamo Bowl feels the same way, but they got stuck with Washington State. 03-lmfao

Given the proximity to Orlando, though, neither would Fl*rida, Miami or FSU.

Then again, I don't think the Citrus Bowl actually owns any hotels, so I doubt that's there motivation. Right now they need something to use to help raise funds to upgrade that dump, and since UCF is no longer a tenant, they would be hard pressed to convince anybody to spend a bunch of money for essentially two bowl games and nothing else.

Quote:Notre Dame previously announced it planned to schedule a football game each season at neutral sites starting in 2009. It is an attempt to return the school to its independent roots.

01-lauramac2 Since they want to be independent so badly, lets kick them out of the Big East so they really be a true independent! 03-nutkick 03-phew 04-rock
