Your comment about Erstad not being good, Im not even going to argue with that, because if you do not know Erstad is a good player....you have obviously only been watching NL baseball the past decade.

Are you kidding me, you continue to say the Cubs have no chance in hell when they are only 5 games out of a playoff spot, but for some reason the Sox do have a chance at the playoffs. That is what you call being a homer, and as far as Erstad he was a decent player, but when a decent player gets old generally they don't continue to perform at the same level and let me tell you Erstad is not getting any younger.

I guess they have a chance but I can tell you right now there is a hugely disproportionate response to what the Cubs are doing on the field and the level of fan excitement. You would think the Cubs were on the verge of clinching the division in late September based on fan reaction. It baffles me a little bit.

This coming from a guy who was excited the White Sux swept the Devil Rays and took 2 of 3 from the "tough" Royals.

So for them to have this big of a turn around in just one year is pretty amazing. I'll agree with you let the level of excitement might not match what is actually going on, especially since we are still only at the half way point, but Cub fans take what we can get cause we usually do not have that much to be cheering for at this point of the season.

Does the year 1969 ring any bells?

Just get to October and be in a position to wind the division or the Wild Card. Until then, quit talking about how good your team is. The Cubs have not had consecutive over .500 seasons in many many years. Look up the stats, the Cubs have only pulled off x number of consecutive seasons since 1930 something.

Then look at the White Sox who consistently win, year after year and are in post season contention late into September.

Cubs fans are delusional. I must be delusional since i married a Cubs fan, didn't find out until it was too late. We met 10/11/97 after the season was over, so no way of knowing until after she said yes. D'oh!! 03-melodramatic
1. I would hope 1969 doesn't ring any bells for him, hes 22 years old.

2. How many years is "many, many years"? Because if you look at the stats, they had back to back winning seasons in 2003 and 2004. They have had 16 sets of back to back winning seasons since 1930. In their history they have had 14 playoff apperances, compared to the White Sox 8 post season appearances (9 if you wanna assume they would've made it the year of the strike).

3. How are Cub's fans any more delusional than Sox fans? You have MD02 thinking the Sox are in a better position than the Cubs and that beating two teams in last place is more impressive than winning 2/3 from a division leading team. Also he must think that sweeping the White Sox is a pretty easy feat since the Cubs are such a bad team, the team they sweep must be that much worse. Hell you have Ozzie thinking Contraras is in the same class as CC Sabathia, and other pitchers that would take Contraras out to the woodshed.
