He has looked pretty good in the play offs. Probably not the best but he is improving steadily from a good player to a star.

RE: Best Player in the NBA.
lol @ deron williams rather than dirk nowitzki....i love deron williams, and call me crazy, but i would take that great illini team if i had to bet on a team to win a tournament of the best college teams of all time...dont tell me UNC beat them, illinois wins that game 7 out of 10 times, and dont make me explain why...but anyways back on topic, deron williams WILL eventually be qualified to be on this list, but not quite yet...nowitzki is a monster, i dont care that his team got knocked out 1st round...basketball is a game of matchups, and golden state was the perfect team to beat the powerful mavericks.

RE: Best Player in the NBA.
1 and 1a are Duncan and Nash
3 is Wade

Those 3 are rocks you can build around and count on. LeBron is getting to that level.

There are flaws in the rest...Shaq has age and injury issues, Garnett is past his prime, Bryant is known to be selfish, Deron Williams is on the upside of what will be a good career- but he's not at this level yet, Carmelo is also still a work in progress.

Duncan and Nash are flawless however. If Wade didn't have injury problems this year he'd be there as well.

Until Lebron learns to play defense, he will never be an elite player. It's laughable that some people say he is the next Michael Jordan. Lebron might come close to what Jordan did offensively (although I doubt that), but Lebron will never even be in the same country as Jordan was defensively.

Wade can't play defense either, he also turns the ball over like a mad man. Not a great jump shooter either.

The refs in last years finals boosted him to a status he doesn't deserves. Wade doesn't belong in this convo.

Nash. He has the gift of making his teammates better. Kobe doesn't.
