Maybe we need a News Source that gives it to both parties?
As I am sitting here contemplating the world's problems and I find myself with this dilemna. I don't trust the right and (especiallly) their sources. I think Fox News is entirely biased and the WorldNet's and Drudge's fall right in line. I am aware of the bias that my side has also. I find myself at this time wishing for a news source that bashes both. The right doesn't like NPR or PBS when that truly should be down the middle. If someone was just interested in the truth where would he turn? Is the truth truly in the eye of the beholder?

Along these lines. This is what really bothers me about some of you on the right. Many times here people have asked the right just to watch "An Inconvient Truth". Many of you won't even do that. I would read anything or watch anything that someone asked me to do. I couldn't be "brain-washed" just by watching something. I would then make up my mind. Why is it that so many on the right are so closed minded? Gore tells one joke that ribs R's. other than that it is a very informative film.

So....... in closing. Could we nominate one source that all of us could agree on? Does it even exist?

Just for Fun

Let's use a 1-10 Reichert Scale to place where we think the major news sources are.

1 being far left.... 10 being far right.

I'll begin

1 none

2 none

3 CBS
Huffington Report

4 msNBC

5

6 NBC ABC

7

8

9 Fox News

10 Drudge report

You show NBC and ABC as slightly conservative?

Excuse me, but lmfao lmfao lmfao

That only shows how left-leaning you really are.

Reb,

They never offer both sides. Gibson, Cavuto............ Freakin Snow just moved up the food chain. They NEVER EVER NEVER put a Republican in a bad light. You think they'd pull a Gary Condit on a Republican. Labeling Foley as a Democrat when it first came out. I should of put them at 10. I was trying to be diplomatic at a 9. They're as partisan as they come and they ARE the main reason we have such a partisan divide right now in this country and nobody trusts each others sources.

I wonder if there is a way you could track something like this. I'd bet a wooden nickel you'd be farther right than I am to the left. Promise.

It's already been tracked. You just didn't like the results.

I agree that it would be nice to have a place where just news was aired, but at the end of the day I don't know how that is possible. Here is why....

1. To be viable a news channel or show has to be able to sell advertising i.e. be profitable. To do that they have to have viewers. How do you do that? Make it interesting to a specific group or groups of people. How do you do that? Sensationalize every story and/or dig for dirt looking for the hidden or undisclosed agenda.

2. You could go non-profit and let the government run it.....nevermind.

3. You could go the PBS route, but come on even "Family Ties" made fun of that.

Quote:While the editorial page of The Wall Street Journal is conservative, the newspaper's news pages are liberal, even more liberal than The New York Times. The Drudge Report may have a right-wing reputation, but it leans left. Coverage by public television and radio is conservative compared to the rest of the mainstream media. Meanwhile, almost all major media outlets tilt to the left.

These are just a few of the surprising findings from a UCLA-led study, which is believed to be the first successful attempt at objectively quantifying bias in a range of media outlets and ranking them accordingly.

you must be obective to judge who isnt objective. the left always thinks fox news is out to get them, and same goes for the right and cbs. 99% of the time, all news sources have one bias....money. if the story well get people to watch, then it gets on the air.

However, I would replace BBC with C-Span. BBC does have a liberal leaning. C-Span, well, it is what it is.
