The Dixie Chicks...
Is their music that good, or was the grammy's trying to make a political statement?

the grammys are BS anyway. they are so out of touch it isnt even funny. i dont think any serious music fans pay them any mind.

however, i do find it interesting that country radio stations wont play their songs, just based on their political beliefs.

Actually I think it's that country fans won't listen to their songs based on politics and radio stations got tired of being fussed out.

I think those that voted were making a political statement. Grammy is just the name of the award. I think there is a cast of 11k that vote?

Are they hot? I don't know one song they do, but this young kid I used to work with referred to them as "Chicks with *****".

Here in Dayton, Ohio, the redneck bars have added the Dixie Chicks back to the jukeboxes. Honestly, I think most of the country stations have given up their ban as well.

Not down here. They have every right to say whatever they wish. However, those rights extend both ways. The south is, and has always been, the stronghold of Country music.......and what a coincidence, it is for conservatism as well.

I don't really listen to country, so I won't claim to have my hand on the pulse of the feelings. I do prefer redneck bars, however, because they are more fun than normal bars... better conversation, better people, better music (rock and roll to go with the country). Any town I visit I always hope to find that redneck dive to hang out in :).

So anyway... I'm sure they have added teh Dixie Chicks back at minimum.

Most country music fans that I know were more pissed at the Dixie Chicks for their arrogance and attacks of Toby Keith then for their attacks on President Bush.

Gimmie a break. Toby Keith?

Country music is so cheesed out these days its almost unrecognizable. Can you imagine Waylon Jennings or Hank Williams ever wearing something like this?

Actually many country fans were pissed at how Maines lashed out at the whole community after the backlash from her stupid comments. She said that they never felt comfortable in the country music world and that she was disappointed to have all the stereotypes about it confirmed.

They also said they didn't want to be country stars and would rather their CD's not be in the changer with Reba and Toby Keith. They said they'd rather have a small group of fans that "get it." They insulted the whole country music industry and fans.

It wasn't just the comments on Bush, it was that arrogant ***** wouldn't keep her mouth shut.

And you're right, the Grammy's are completely out of touch. How do you give the grammy for best country album to a group that doesn't even rank in the top 90 of played on country music radio and got exactly zero nominations for a CMA award. They were making a political statement, nothing more.

Just learned alot more about Toby Keith. I shouldn't have bashed him. Seems like an independent thinking, patriotic, overall good American.

Yep, he makes a good point. His party, the Democrat Party, IS being taken over. I will file him under the Zell Miller/Joe Lieberman Democrats.

He is wrong about Iraq though, if it descends into civil war, it won't be the Kurds that take over, it will be the Shi'ites. Maybe he should have asked people about that situation instead of relying on the media.

Oh yeah, Oklahoma Democrats are generally a helluva lot more conservative than their counterparts.

Kev I noticed that Augusta, GA is 43% white and 51% black. Although Greybeard is going to have a fit (because he thinks I'm a racist) I find that stat very interesting. I'd be curious to know what it's like living with a racial mix like that. I'm considering a job relocation where it is similar in a southern state. I've never lived anyplace where us white boys were not a majority--althought the Mexican population seems to be rapidly becoming the majority here in Ft. Worth, TX.
