Demonstrates missle test to shoot down satellite. By taking out GPS and Comms satellites, they could essentially cripple U.S. military capability.

I say we nuke them now.

Yeah, I saw the headline on the Post this morning and was trying to find the article. Thanks!

What is funny, is that I found this article instead...
http://www.space.com/news/050727_china_military.html

I appreciate that they want more "proof", but given the sensitive nature of intelligence gathering, I would think that they'd have more respect for such assertions, and not blantently criticize. Of course, folks like Machiavelli repeat this gibberish from their know-nothing soap-box, and then conveniently "forget" how wrong they are when the proof comes out.

Of course not... Do it from your land-based stockpile first. Keep the tactical capability of mobile platforms available for later needs.

They are an overpopulation nightmare, and a growing energy sink for our precious oil. They have no respect for international intellectual property rights.

Nuke them before it's too late.

It's obvious that the only reason to shoot down satellites would be to wage war against the US. Take away our eyes and ears, and what do we have left? Still a far superior military, but so much relies on information gathering.

Let's think here..............

Why would a country who did nothing to the United States be worried about the United States attacking them. To paraphrase our good friend Rummy, "Golly gee willickers, I don't know". Why would any country not be in lock step with us? Jeez, if China had the audacity of having sattelites in space............... I'm sure we never would test a way of taking them out.

We are entering a different paradigm here folks.

No, most of us knew that the Chinese were seeking to build up their military since the Korean war.

It is only folks like Richardson, who let them have secrets from Los Alamos, that didn't buy into this.

Welcome to 1951.

I hope you're being sarcastic. You saying the above as an American is laughable. You hear that world -- adopt the United States model of IP rights.

- Patent lawsuit trolls.
- Monopoly corporations controlling domestic law and heavily influencing international trades purely in their own interests.
- F*** the consumer, f*** the producer, all hail the distributor.
- The death of fair use rights.

If China wanted to grab the US by the balls, all they'd have to due is demand immediate repayment of our tremendous debt to them. The US deficit is soaring, and China is buying up the debt to keep the dollar value high and their products flowing into America. They could literally cripple the US economy if they so chose.

That would cripple them and the rest of the world too.

Their use of slave labor would keep them humming along. Human rights isn't exactly their primary concern.

Do you think this stuff through before you post?

China already has WMD's Dogger. They're one of the worst violaters of human rights in the world and they are constantly building up their military, and have been as pointed out, since the end of the Korean war. If we haven't attacked them by now, we're not going to.

China also has satellites in space. They have a space program.

I realize you're doing your best to try and contrast Iraq with China but you're going to fail miserably because they are NOTHING alike.

China didn't shoot down that satellite b/c they're worried about us, they shot it down because they wanted to show they could. Think before you post this crap man.

Don't think so. It's a pretty big challenge to hit a 10 ft object, travelling at 17,000 mph, 124 miles overhead.

Although they were blinding spy satellites w/ lasers a few months ago.

The scary thing is that Russia and China want to mold their collective selves as a counter-balance to U.S. power politically.

France envisions the EU serving the same function.

Chavez wants to make an attempt at some similar coalition...but that really poses little threat IMO.
