I can't shake the idea lately that Bush may need to be evaluated for bipolar disorder. The latest example was his comment this week that he wants to be "the peace president." He says no one likes to be the war president. Hmm, that didn't seem to be the vibe he was giving off the past couple of years.

I first wondered about this when he welcomed the Clintons back to the White House for their portrait unveiling ceremony. His graciousness that day bordered on bizarre. Then there's a whole series of other larger issues -- the 9/11 Commission, U.N. assistance in Iraq, the need for a Dept. of Homeland Security, Condoleeza Rice's testimony, his views on Ahmad Chalabi, the WMD issue, nation-building, etc. etc. -- where he's gone from one side to the other.

Reasonable people might understand that politicians sometimes are entitled to adjust their views based on changing circumstances. I accept that. But when someone who boasts of the steadfast nature of his leadership has this kind of record, you have to wonder. And to trot out the position that he wants to be the peace president now is one seriously twisted statement.

Socko, in order to be bipolar you have to have two different types of personalities and swing between them. When has George Bush been angry or mean spirited? You can't use his policy as an example, it has to be when he was dealing with someone and he wasn't "gracious".

I think bipolar is not the word you are looking for. Maybe his actions don't match his words, but he's not bipolar. On a side note, I knew someone that was bipolar, and she was a pain to deal with.

I can think of two times that Bush has acted angry or mean spirited...right after Sept. 11 and when he heard the news that Paul Johnson's head had been cut off...man was he pissed then. The first time that I realized I voted for the wrong guy (Gore) was shortly after Sept. 11 when Bush gave one of his great "The USA's coming for your @$$eS speeches". Also, he was extremely angry when he heard the news of Paul Johnson's demise. This is the kind of guy that we need...not someone who will jump in bed with foreign leaders who love to see us attacked, or wave the "we're Americans and we deserved it" banner.

At the thought of Americans not getting angry over these sorts of things or Americans blaming Bush for going to war, I get sick to my stomach. I would love to see the statements made if we have another massive attack in the US. As someone stated before, for those people that are blaming him for "creating wars" they would be blaming him for not doing enough...this makes me sick too.

In an ironic twist to all of this, I am almost getting to the point where I don't care if we get attacked again. I am beginning to realize that if somewhere between 40-50% of us feel this way, then let us have it. Maybe we do need to be taught a lesson. The funny thing is that I live in Sylvania Ohio and if we make it easier for them to come "take us", then Sylvania, Ohio atleast will be way down their list. Geographically speaking, most of the people who are against our current national security policies live in more tempting locations or "targets", so fck it, let us have it!

Where would we be right now if our grandfathers and great grandfathers stood back in 1941 and said "you know what, those Japanese people are right, come have us your way."?

I will wrap this up by saying that as I stated earlier, I did not vote for Bush due to my naivete. After realizing what it meant to be a liberal (national UNsecurity, non involvement, non commitment, and patriotic deficiency), I have determined that I am definitely more conservative than liberal, if being conservative means that you practice common sense approaches to real life situations. On the other hand, I was too young to vote for Clinton, but I think that he was a good president. I don't get caught up in the Monica Lewinski stuff, because that didn't affect me, but if we were to get another libby in office, I sure as hell hope it would be someone like him. In all honesty, he doesn't believe the common libby opinion that we should not go to war with terrorist countries that threaten our national security...and yes, Iraq and Afghanistan were both terrorist countries (just ask a guy named Al Zarqawi, Uday Hussein (commonly known for his rapist raids he placed upon junior high and high schools, but I guess that doesn't make him a bad person), Qusay Hussein, Chemical Ali, etc. :mad:

There are other examples. I'm having a tough time locating them. But there was a row with an Irish reporter and I seem to remember he snapped at a CNN reporter a few months back.

Thanks Schad, I got a good laugh from those. I remember when Bush said that about Adam Clymer and I thought that it was funny (and like I said, my intentions were to not vote for him).

The biggest problem with all the examples that you guys are citing of Bush being mean were that he had reason to be upset. Everyone gets upset when something disagreeable happens. If you think that means bipolar then you are trying to see things that are not true. A bipolar president would get mad at a happy time, not when he is being attacked or just found out that one of his citizen's heads was cut off.
