Right on, NCTM.
I am the biggest fence-sitter there is when it comes to politics. I probably lean farther right on a lot of issues than I do left, but I don't consider myself a "conservative" or a "liberal."
And, I don't think that either side is "anti-American" -- even those that oppose this war.
But, I think this is a time when people need to come together to support our troops and our effort, no matter how they feel about Bush or the motives behind the war. I watched the CNN interview last night with the family of one of the POWs that was captured in the helicopter crash, and the mother said that she felt like it disrespected her son when people spoke out against the war. She said she understands the feelings, but that now was not the time to be saying that -- now was the time to support the president and the troops.
I can certainly understand how someone opposed to this war feels like they are standing up for the troops by speaking out in that way, but I think it is doing more harm that good. The troops feel like it undermines what they are doing over there, and the Iraqi government is using it to show that they are right. And I don't think that's what anyone here wants....

I don't have time to write more right now. But I feel obligated to report that Fox News was apparently wrong about the chemical plant:
<a href='http://www.newsday.com/entertainment/tv/ny-etwartv253190196mar25,0,5436146.story?coll=ny%2Dtelevision%2Dheadlines' target='_blank'>http://www.newsday.com/entertainment/tv/ny...ion%2Dheadlines</a>
Don't extrapolate from this post. My only point here is that the story that started this thread is, apparently, wrong. This seems worth pointing out.

Wait let me point out one thing as to not get confused with Nate. I totally disagree with Nate's statement. I also totally disagree with pretty much everything the left does but I don't think that they are anti-American just un-American..

And why did all of the trouble in Florida happen in heavily democratic areas, with election boards run by democrats.
Don't forget that Gore couldn't even carry his own state. Bush ran away with Tennessee...if you can't even win the vote in your own state, you don't belong in Washington.

NCTrafficMan Wrote:NavyDoc69 Wrote:NCTM no one is saying that you should blindly follow everything W does but when it becomes more and more apparent that Bush was right people need to fess up. Did you happen to hear about that letter written to all Iraqi's by the 3rd man in charge of Al-Queda??? Giving detailed instructions on how to defeat the American's which included telling them to use Toyota cars instead of trucks/tanks to help confuse our troops?
All I'm trying to say is that there IS a LARGE # of Liberals that thought that Bush and Powell and Chaney were lying about the info. they had and now that they are proving that they were right I feel people should come out and eat some crow right now. The blood of every American/British life lost is on the hands of France, Germany, The UN and the liberals who have gone above and beyond to give this man every chance to stock pile more weapons and prepare for this war.
I just wish the liberals in 90-91 would have let the Marines and I go into Baghdad and kill him then.
I agree with most of what you said NavyDoc...my problem is with the blanket statement that Nate made that "All liberals are Anti-American"....I do have both conservative (religious) and liberal (social) beliefs and for nate to make that statement is just ignorant....anyone who really knows me knows that I am proud of all of our troops and anyone who has served this country has my respect....but I will not let anyone liberal, conservative or otherwise tell me I am "Anti-American" because my beliefs do not mirror the close minded lifestyle that person decides to live in....
Sorry, but the stereotype is so close to warranted during this time. I respect, and like, liberals who aren't naively protesting this war.
But, you're right, I should have added "liberals that are getting all the attention right now".
It's a shame for the reasonable liberals, how few or many there are, because those peace protesters are giving the others bad names.
