You may not like having the truth shoved under your conveniently self-serving nose-holes, but that doesn't make it any less true.

SG has a point not apply to oddball, but many so call free loving libs are just as big as biggots as some conservatives. A girl i went to college was all about the college greens and equal rights, but one night we took her downtown and she wanted to leave the bar we were at (which was nice in my standards) because she was scared about catching hiv. Talk about sterotyping a race. Both sides have biggots and both have good people, you just have to wade through the idiots to find them.

You wouldn't know truth if it bit you on your @ss. I am discussing an individual's STATED bigotry. You've decided to to use a wee bit broader brush to paint with, thus making your comments irrellevant and stupid.

Race and sexual orientation are not comparable to choosing a silly political philosophy to align yourself with, btw. That knowledge may help prevent you from looking so utterly foolish when you next post. A power failure would probably be more effective, though.

Yes, there are good people and bigots in all walks of life and political philosophies. That doesn't make it any less hilarious that an anti-gay crusader ends up with a gay son.

Your maundering nonsense requires industrial spray paint capacity. Here's just a sample of the wayward cueball's brillliant thoughts in this very thread, which suggest serious inability to stay on task i.e., "an individual's stated bigotry":

Quote:In a perfect world, every bigot would have a gay son and a daughter married to someone of a different ethnicity than himself.

Quote:Us liberals should be ashamed of ourselves for laughing at the misfortunes of others.

Quote:And us liberals love it when you neo-cons try to hide your ignorance of the book you use to justify your fear, hatred, and bigotry behind semantic games.

Quote:Long and short of it is, if this was the huge issue that the religious right make it out to be, it would have many more referrences and much more clarity associated with the referrences. Not to mention that the culmination of the entire Old Testament, Jesus, would very likely have mentioned it if it were going to be the defining issue of latter day Christianity. Regardless of Paul's intent with that passage, I can guarantee it was not written to justify the bigotry that is prevalent in the most vocal "Christian" groups.

Then, the exciting (yawn) conclusion:

Quote:Race and sexual orientation are not comparable to choosing a silly political philosophy to align yourself with, btw. That knowledge may help prevent you from looking so utterly foolish when you next post. A power failure would probably be more effective, though.

Wow. Your status as stalwart pinhead is preserved for posterity. Note: I used "posterity," not "posterior." Quit daydreaming about biting my as*, you goofy pervert. And it's impossible to look foolish when you're on the other side of the issue debated.

I do hate bigotry...your evasion of the issue is "palpable", as well.

Not evading the issue. His children are what they are. How is it his fault if they are gay? Is it not the common perception that ones sexuality is not something learned? Cant blame dad for that. My point is you bust out the hatred for the man, call him a bigot and ignorant, and then show the same capacity for such behavior. Pot and kettle and such.

What does the fact that it isn't the bigot's fault that his son is gay have to do with anything? He promotes bigotry and ignorance, and that is the point. Are you being intentionally obtuse?

I never promoted bigotry or ignorance. In fact, I've been combatting both in this thread. No "pot and kettle" about it. You can't counter the claims by attacking me, while you can try, it is illogical and doesn't change facts.

How do you manage to grasp that, yet fail to grasp that the man's utter refusal to even entertain such an idea makes him most assuredly ignorant by any definition of the word? In fact, it appears he's even spent an awful lot of money trying to "unlearn" his now rejected son.

What was your point with this post? One might infer that you take pleasure in his son being gay.

I really dont care what his kids do. He does. They are his kids. He has every right to believe what he believes. It is part of what he is. I respect that. I may not agree with his views, but I respect someone who will fight for what they believe.

So you choose to belittle those with whom you do not agree. Be my guest. I find it rather distasteful, but if you need to go there, it is your choice. You see, it is all about choice. We all have them. His son has decided to use his sexuality as a tool, and he has decided to fight for what he thinks is right for his son. Wait until you have kids. You will see the world in a much different light.

But what about loving your children for who they are, rick? Where does parenting end and acceptance begin?

JB, my whole point is not about what his kids do. My point is the whole idea of people posting that someone is a bigot and ignorant because they dont agree with their views. If either one of my sons is gay (9 and 12) I will still love them. I will accept their decisions. I have no problem with that. It is all about all these self professed Christians who use their religion when it suits them. Tis all or nothing if you ask me.

What a remarkably ridiculous argument you've tried to create. The man is a bigot. He is who "belittles" people.

I have children. I will love and respect them...no matter what. This BIGOT should try to grasp that concept.
