Did I give you the wrong URL? Repealing Bush's tax cuts for the truly wealthy isn't exactly "raising taxes", and Bush has been giving lip service to Kerry's Iraq plan lately, despite having burnt too many bridges to be able to pull it off himself.

Everyone I know got a refund check, and none of else are wealthy by a long shot.

Kerry won't be asking for everyone's $300 back. In fact, he won't be repealing the tax cuts for the majority of Americans, either. I mistakenly assumed you'd actually read something at that site. :D

if kerry gets elected, my parents' taxes will be raised. But we're middle class. I thought only the truly wealthy are getting their taxes raised?

I did read it, and correctly. Maybe you should do the same.

Quote:John Kerry has the courage to take on the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. However, he believes that we should keep the middle class tax cuts that Democrats fought for in 2001 and 2003. Specifically, he wants to protect the increases in the child tax credit, the reduced marriage penalty and the new tax bracket that helps people save $350 on their first level of income.  He strongly disagrees with Democrats who want to repeal these tax cuts because it would cost a typical middle-class family with two children an additional $2,000. These families are often already struggling with higher health care costs and higher state and local taxes. In fact, John Kerry wants to give more tax breaks to the middle class with new tax credits on health care and college tuition. These tax cuts are part of his plan to restore the economy and cut the budget deficit in half in four years.

For those of you happy about your $300 checks, you can all line up and thank your nearest Democrat! The refund checks were not a GOP idea.

Besides, their effect was nominal at best. They made up less than 5% of the total tax package and in effect just became advances on the following year's tax burden.

<a href='http://www.commondreams.org/headlines03/0604-07.htm' target='_blank'>And for those of you not paying attention, it's all about helping the rich. . .</a>

Who claims anything of the sort? The tax refund checks were a Democratic idea. That is a completely separate issue from the tax-giveaway to the wealthiest 1%.

Shall I draw you a pretty picture, too?
