Well, they are both fantasies with very little to no fact involved. ONe is pure fun, the other a weak attempt at political bs.

Day after tommorrow looks like a decent movie, but Im not exactly terrified of that coming true any time soon, say in the next several thousand years.

In science class we just read an article about global warming and "The Day After Tomorrow". The major thing is the warming causing the ice caps to melt therefore increasing the sea levels. Anyways, IMO it looks like a great movie. I'm going to try and see it this week.

Okkkkkk, so global warming causes freezing? Call me simplistic, but I don't get it.

Also, Mars is warming up. Who's driving 'dem SUV's on Mars? We need to find those dudes.

The movie is total BS and is in the same category as Harry Potter. Go figure. Gore called it "realistic". Yeah, that's who "SOME" people voted for.

The idea behind this is that the polar ice caps melt, significantly cooling the North Atlantic (which continuously has the warm Gulf Stream pumping into it). This will put an end to the mild winters in Europe and cause harsh winters... although I'm not sure why the US would be effected...

But what they fail to realize is that in the case of real global warming, the equatorial areas would warm up, and so would its water. These areas is where the Gulf Stream originates. It's like a conveyer belt. So, yes, while the North Atlantic would get cooler water draining into it from the polar region, the water coming up from the south would be warmer than normal (thus, offsetting each other).

The only way the northeast US and Europe would freeze like that would be if those ocean currents stopped circulating OR if the Earth stopped spinning on its axis. Both are rather impossible.
