Personally, I'm on the side of the company. Although they should have had their policy in writing, and explained it at the new-hire orientation. It would seem that she could eat her preferred lunches [i]off-site[i] so, there you go.

good ol religion!!

she was warned; however being fired for eating a BLT seems harsh. She should have been more respectful to her employers but I think they could have afforeded her three strikes.

Fine. The companies can fire people for wearing religious garb, too (cross necklaces, etc).

It's idiotic, IMO. Especially since it wasn't a written policy.

Their policy was not in writing. She never had to sign anything saying she could not eat meat.

Therefore, the company needs to be hit hard for firing her.

If you want ridiculous rules like that in your workplace, you better make sure people KNOW about them before you hire them, and make them dependent on the salary that you pay them.
