Jeff Kent signs with the Dodgers, which probably means Shawn Green moves back to RF.
Jermaine Dye gave the White Sox a verbal committment (sp) then was offered more money by another team....he stuck to his word and signed with Chicago. Good for him!!

I was hoping we could sign Dye to fill the hole in right field. Maybe we'll go after Moises Alou.

for what position? alou can't play rigth. he can't even play left. and he has no arm. he's a great hitter, (though it's tougher in turner field), but an awful fielder, awful baserunner and a cancer.

I'd sacrifice a liability in the outfield for a guy who can give you 35 homers. And I also don't think he'd disrupt the clubhouse. Gary Sheffield didn't. Heck, even John Rocker didn't. Cox knows how to handle these types.

maybe these startling numbers will change your mind:
Moises Alou- HR breakdown- Home:29 Road:10
he was obviously a big beneficiary of wrigley field.

Yes, but he's hit well everywhere he's gone. He even put up some nice numbers playing in the Astrodome. Yeah, I know he's older, but he doesn't seem like his lost much.

Boomer signs with Red Sox. He makes a pretty good #3 or #4 if Pedro stays with Boston.

Pavano a Yankee. Well, I doubt the Yankees go after Jaret Wright now, but if they do, I look for them to trade either O. Hernandez or Javier Vazquez.
Or, maybe they get him and one of the three moves to the pen until someone gets injured.

Brewers trade Kolb to Braves for Capellan
December 11, 2004
ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) - The Atlanta Braves have found a closer, paving the way for John Smoltz to return to the rotation.
SportsTicker has learned that the Braves have traded prized pitching prospect Jose Capellan to the Milwaukee Brewers for All-Star reliever Danny Kolb. Sources close to both sides confirmed the deal.
Earlier Saturday, Braves manager Bobby Cox was pointed in his comments that Smoltz was headed back to the rotation, likely aware that the deal was close to being finalized.

No deal has been finalized. Even if he failed his physical doesn't mean they can't sign him, but everything is in limbo right now.

Jaret Wright: Yankees Contract In Doubt
RotoWire.com Staff - RotoWire.com
Saturday, December 11, 2004
Update: One of Wright's agents has denied rumors circulating through the winter meetings that he had failed a physical with the Yankees, the New York Times reports. However, ESPNews is reporting he failed his physical.
Recommendation: Wright and the Yankees have basically agreed on a $21 million, three-year deal, several sources report. However, the deal isn't completed and this talk ads a bit of uncertainty until it's official.

I heard the Dodgers and A's are close to a deal that will send Hudson to L.A. and the A's get a pitcher with a bum elbow and a AAA 2B that knocked the cover off the ball last year.

Reds trade a minor league pitcher to Angels for Pitcher Ramon Ortiz. Could be a good move for the Reds if he responds to Don Gullett. The Reds need bullpen help, but I think Ortiz will start.

giants reportedly signed alou: 2 years 13.6 million. this is the worst signing ever! moises alou is an awesome hitter, but he's a terrible fielder and a terrible baserunner. he's also, supposedly, a cancer. we need a fielder, not a hitter. he is going to die in right field in pac bell park.
the only thing that this signing has accomplished is: we now have a better lineup than the braves.

You think that matters? Pitching is what matters. And ours is far better than the Giants.
BTW, I gotta hand it to you, swoosh. You said that Alou wouldn't be a great pickup, and you've stuck to your word even after he signed with your team. I like that.
