From Drudge....Surely not all FNC viewers are Rep's. I did not realize MSNBC was so bad off. Look at the stats comparing '01. Quite amazing. I wonder why?

CNN LOSES 63% OF AUDIENCE OVER INAUGURATION 2001
Fri Jan 21 2005 23:52:24 2005

CNN hemorrhaged more than half their audience from the 2001 Inauguration, overnights show. The troubled news network only averaged 779,000 viewers during yesterday's Inauguration coverage from 10am-4pm with just 168,000 of those viewers landing in the coveted 25-54 demo.

Like CNN, MSNBC also suffered major losses, only averaging 438,000 viewers throughout yesterday's coverage (141,000 in 25-54), down a whopping 68% over 2001 and faring even worse in primetime with just 385,000 viewers.

In contrast, Fox News averaged 2,581,000 viewers from 10a-4p (up 30% over 2001) and their 25-54 demo average of 705,000 came close to CNN's total coverage ratings yesterday.

PRIMETIME:

FNC -- 2,439,000 (up 57% OVER '01)
CNN -- 1,353,000 (down 14% over '01)
MSNBC -- 385,000 (down 47% over '01)

Fox News Channel is on more cable systems and Satelitte providers now than in '01. I'm sure the viewership of the inauguration is down across all networks and cable stations. Bush's first swear-in was on a Saturday, this year a Thursday. I had to work as did many others and didn't watch it.

Maybe moderates, libertarians, conservatives, and the like were tired of a liberal agenda being pushed on them every damn day? Ya think?

It may be a case of what Howard Stren saw early in his career. Even though many people hated him with a passion, the numbers showed that those that hated him listened to him for about 2x as long as those that liked him.

I personally stay away from FNC and CNN...they are both full of one-sided drivel and have about the same level of journalistic integrity.

Fox News makes less mistakes and does a better job of owning up to them when they do, CNNs credibility has suffered with its increased one sided reporting. A majority of Americans connect more with the reporting that Fox does, people are tired of the biased, slanted, over sensationalized reporting which has become the norm in many news programs both on cable and on major networks, the ratings are proof of this.
