UNO trailed 26-7 with 7:04 remaining in the first half. Yes...7 points in the first 13 minutes of play. A gutty rally saw UNO take a 54-53 lead with 5:34 to play and this thing was a see-saw battle the rest of the way.

UNO had a chance to win in regulation but Bo McCalebb's jumper at the free throw line bounced off. In the first OT, Denver had a six point lead erased on back to back 3's by UNO's Kyle Buggs and Billy McDade. This time Denver had a shot at the buzzer but it was no good.

In the 2nd OT, points were hard to come by. After AJ Meredith made two free throws for UNO, DU got two baskets from Carvell McAlister for a two point lead. They held that lead until the final seconds when Kyle Buggs drained a three pointer in the final minute to give UNO a one point lead. DU then had several chances to win it. In the final 10 seconds, DU got the benefit of a HAND CHECK foul but Rodney Billups missed both free throws. DU rebounded the second miss, though, and Billups took a jumper that missed but the ball went out of bounds off of UNO. With 4 seconds left, DU inbounded the ball and Eric Benzel took an off balance three as time expired that didn't come close.

With the win, UNO clinches the #3 seed in the tournament. DU now must hope and pray that both NMSU and USA lose their games for them to sneak in as the #8 seed.

I am sure every fan of every conference thinks they have the worst basketball refs, the difference between all the other conferences and us is that we really do have the worst :bang: Congrats on the big comeback 04-cheers

You always hear about "letting them play" to decide a game. UNO's Kyle Buggs had his head busted open in the 1st overtime. He went to the locker room and missed the end of that period as well as half of the 2nd OT. There was no call on that play. With 15 seconds to go in a one point game, they called a HAND CHECK!!!

Thankfully, Buggsy returned to the floor to a huge ovation with 2 minutes left in the second OT. He then hit the game winning three on our last possession in his last game at Lakefront Arena.

You're right...I can't imagine there are refs worse than ours anywhere in America on Saturday nights. Unreal.

And thanks...incredible game.

I'll agree with that wholeheartedly. I've caught a lot of WKU's men's and women's games this year, and I've seen some really bad officiating. It would be one thing if I was just a "homer" saying that the Tops had the bad calls against us, but I've seen some really bad calls against the opposing teams too. What's been really disappointing is the way that Wright Waters has just kind of shrugged this issue off despite fans from all parts of the conference complaining about this issue. You know that if fans from nearly every school are saying that there are TOO MANY bad calls against themsleves and the OPPOSING team, then there has to be some validity to the issue. Hopefully bad officiating isn't going to be the difference in any of the conference tournament games. If a game is lost because of poor officiating, Wright Waters might REALLY have to answer to Sunbelt fans.
