Which teams will have winning records? Which teams will have losing records? Which team will win it all and go to New Orleans? How will the conference standings look at the end of the season? Who will be the Sun Belt Conference player of the year?

Mean Green goin' for four in '04 :) .

Could go 2-1 or 1-2 in OC. 10-1 or 9-2 for season.

The '04 version of the Mean Green will be faster, stronger, deeper and more talent. Offense is back. Defensive line & DB's will actually be stronger, better and faster in '04. If some young talent comes thru at LB Mean Green will be very, very, very tough.

Patrick Cobbs repeats as Player of the Year. DE Adrian Awasom, Defensive Player of the Year.

I will agree that UNT has to be the early favorite based on what has been done by the Mean Green over the past 3 years. However, I think there are at least 4 teams (TSU, MT, ASU and the Cajuns) that should challenge you guys and I certainly do not see UNT going undefeated in conference again. There are just too many hungry teams out there. I also agree that Cobbs should be the favorite to win Player of the Year again.

I think it stinks that we don't get to try UNT head-to-head again this year. I know it may sound easy to say since NT schooled us last year, but I think we are going to have a much better team this year. When the 'designated' conference games are a thing of the past the conference contention is going to be much more interesting. Having to play Marshall in Huntingdon as a conference game sucks. :bang:

Hey, we think it stinks also! Remember Troy was due back in Denton this year to complete our 2 here 1 there contract. We'd much rather host Troy than have a designated game with FAU. Then there's no question who should go to NO. The way it ought to be. Last year we played all the conference teams and didn't have one of those dang designated games.

I agree that it's difficult to for a team to stay "up" every week and go undefeated in conference. That said. The Mean Green will be improved this year and until someone steps up and whacks us, I'll stick with my projection for '04.

PS... Remember we're playing there and you guys haven't exactly been an offensive jugernaut in the last two games we've played in your house. Zero's come to mind when thinking of final scores :ninja: (just a little friendly jab).

Remember, we're 1-1 against UNT. I remember a game winning field goal in Troy. 03-wink Granted, UNT is a much better team than the one we beat back then, but our team is going to be much better than the one the MeanGreen beat.

I'll be glad when the 2-for-1 is over and we can swap home games every year.

Get ready for the road to New Orleans to be re-routed through Troy. :D

Nothing but respect for UNT.

I have great respect for UNT and what you guys have accomplished, but I predict you will lose 1 or more conference games this year to stAte, TSU, ULL, or MTSU. I think competition is improving along with the conference overall; we must all walk before we can run, eh?

I think everyone outside of Denton agrees that North Texas will lose a conference game this year. The real question is: Will they lose TWO? If you honestly think The Mean Green will lose two conference games this year, then a pick for the champs to go down is legit. I want my Trojans to win the Belt. I think we can, but we'll have to have one of the other Sun Belt teams step up and do something they haven't gotten done in 18 games at least once and most likely twice. By having Marshall as a designated conference game (tip of the hat to Ark State for Memphis designtated game as well) and a double whammy of not getting to hang a loss on The Mean Green ourselves. Don't get me wrong. I think my Trojans can beat Marshall again, I was there last time watching the goalposts carried out of the stadium, but I don't know if we can run the table in the Belt for the same reasons that I think North Texas can't. And with no real tie-breaker if us and NT finish tied, it's a disadvantage.
I have faith in you guys. I think lightning will strike once and the Mean Green may be too busy watching the other scores in the Belt towards the end of the year and lightining will strike twice.
New king's coming to New Orleans! TMTDM (The Mighty Trojan Death Machine) Hail to the King Baby! 04-bow

Offensive player of the year: UL Cajuns QB Jerry Babb
Defensive player of the year: Troy State DE Demarcus Ware
Most Improved Team: ULM Indians (several close games last year, I think the bad luck finally goes away)

If you'll go back and look at 2002 & 2003 post, everyone outside of Denton has said the same thing for the past TWO YEARS :ninja: . Until someone steps up, the Mean Green will remain the team to beat, not talk to death, in the Sun Belt 04-cheers

Believe me, the TSU fans would rather not have to talk about it. I think we have a team that can beat NT this year. We just don't have the game to prove it. :bang:

As I look at the schedule this year Troy has no easy games with the exception of Florida Atlantic, and I'm sure that MTSU thought that would be an easy game too, so we have to treat that one as seriously as any of them.

Of course I'm putting TSU on top.

1. TSU
2. UNT
3. ASU
4. NMSU
5. ULL
6. MTSU
7. ULM
8. USU
9. IDAH0

Note that I'm pretty much just guessing after the first three.

Welcome to the Sun Belt! If you could check post over the past couple of years, that's what a lot of teams in the conference have been saying (I think we have a team that can beat NT).

Waiting for the season to commence is agonizing isn't it? :bang:

Maybe so, but "No one can ever beat us." is what alot of other teams have thought before too.

Lucky for me I live close enough to New Orleans that I won't have get a hotel.

Will the New Orleans Bowl be on ESPN or ESPN2 this year? Wouldn't want you to miss it. :D

Sorry I just don't see Idaho finishing at the very bottom this year. With a whole new coaching staff led by a former USC assistant coach things are looking up. Incresed speed and intensity will be a definite plus. The Vandals will be a .500 team this year and will only get better.

Sorry but we've never said "no one can beat us". We're proud of our Mean Green, but realize it's awfully difficult and the odds are against us to continue our winning streak in conference play. That said, so far no other conference team has stepped up in our past 18 games and until they do the Mean Green remain the team to beat. 04-cheers

People continue to talk the talk, but their teams haven't walked the walk. 03-wink

True, you never said NT was unbeatable.

UNT has had remarkable success in Sun Belt football, but, only one Sun Belt team can go to New Orleans this year, and thats Troy. That means it won't be NT. I just wish Troy could take care of the job one on one.

Here's to a friendly TSU-UNT conference rivalry. :)
