The New Jersey governor authorized the state to give Rutgers university $25K to help send Rutger students down to Arizona for the bowl game. Gee, it must be nice to be the only school in the state. Since governor Taft is so unpopular right now and he wont be able to run for re-election, maybe we can get him to do the same thing for Toledo? 03-lol

Good to know the taxpayers in New Jersey will be footing the bill to send students on a drunken party trip. It must be nice to have the state pick up half of the tab for your party.

And to think we can't get Ohio to help pay for silly crap like tuition.

well I can imagine that the people in New Jersey are bowl thirsty, because they have not made a bowl game in 27 years.

Think about it, Rocket fans, we are fortunate to have a program that has been consistently in a bowl game the past few years. If UT did not make a bowl game in 27 years, us fans would be pretty thirsty for a win.

I credit them for the initiative for this. Plus, their bowl is on the opposite side of the country. If we playing the Hawaii bowl persay, damn, I'd hope someone would foot the bill for the students on that one!

I give NJ credit for their gift to Rutgers.

Yeah, maybe we should ask him if he could come up with a little coin to help out the Rocket fans. :D

It just goes to show that most of these minor bowls actually cost the teams more than the bowl pays out if you have to travel far to get to it. Many of these southern bowls have bowl week activities that the teams must pay for in terms of extra hotel and meal expenses. Toledo's package cost based on double occupancy is $999 per person. The cost for a single is $1,149. This is for two nights hotel stay. If this is the actual cost per person think about taking the entire team, coaches, trainers, mascot, band, cheerleaders, administrators, new uniforms, extra hotel nights for the team, etc. And don't forget about guests of the university. Additonal costs to ship equipment must also be figured in. Taking a bus to the MCB is cheap and I don't believe the teams stay in Detroit for that many days. I think NIU made alot more money playing Michigan this season than we ever did playing in the Silicon Valley Football Classic last year.

Anyways, good luck in the GMAC bowl and bring home a big MAC victory! Please do not count me as one that bashes Toledo. You deserve to be in this bowl! I only wish the MAC had more bowls to give.
