Report from the scene of the crime:
•Once the turnovers started, the team gave up. Actually, the wide extra point may have been the turning point, in retrospect. While we scored again in the first half, it had to plant the the "here we go again" thought in the players' minds.
•The defense looked deflated in the second half.
•Our offensive line is often just miserable, especially on run blocking. We mostly gained rushing yards on improvisation.
•No surprise: we got killed on special teams, again. Even if they weren't always big plays, we were outpreformed whether kicking or receiving kicks.
•Miami has better players. We are very thin in depth. I love their receivers.
•Cribbs, as always, was astonishing, and, as always, took a horrible beating because of our line play. In the open field, he knows how to avoid the big hit, but in the pocket he sometimes has nowhere to go.
•Alston has lost something. He looked neither quick (except on one run late) nor strong. Of course he had very few holes to find, too.
•It's sad that none of our offensive skill players can catch a punt. We have a DB catching punts. He's sure handed and strong, but he's not going to break away.
•In the first half, the offense looked very good--picked apart the very suspect Miami D.
•Red Steve and maulatt put on very good tailgates.
•There is a great atmosphere at Yager and it was a perfect day for football.
•I had a great time, all in all, especially until the middle of the 3rd quarter.
•The better team won.
•We haven't made much progress this year, and our talent level is still below average with no signs it is getting better.
•Next week Cribbs had better know where Goddard is on every play or he won't survive the game. We have no one who can block him.
