You are wrong bowls are another game you should win. That in itself makes them important. If you are there you are more a part of it because you aren't at home. You look around town to see if your fan base has taken over(like stAte did in Mobile). You bond a bit with people wearing your colors. You are proud of your team being invited to have earned that spot. You are proud of your team's fans for being there celebrating the season even if it wasn't exactly what you wanted. Bowls are important. This is our 7th year in a row to go to a bowl(a record for an Arkansas team).

Yep, bowl invites are important, and winning them is more important.

In FBS your record over time are the important measure of your program. Winning seasons in a row. Bowl invites in a row. Historical bowl win records. Times ranked. Number of conference championships. Number of conference championships in a row. Etc., etc.
