Obviously "offers" go out to kids who don't end up interested in App State. Our staff doesn't consider them legitimate, committable offers unless a guy has camped at App State to show reciprocal interest. Justin Fields didn't do that for obvious reasons and wasn't a true target of the staff. Holton Ahlers was another guy who never really had interest in App and was 100% ECU from the beginning. The group of guys that made up the legitimate target list include several guys who don't have a 247 rating including ETSU commit Cam Lewis from McDonough GA, Brock Landis from Winder GA, Bryce Moore from Jefferson GA, and DJ Irons from Loganville GA. Other guys who were similar or more highly rated than Brown but who we ranked lower than him include Temple commit Trad Beatty from Columbia SC, Southern Miss commit Tate Whatley from Lakeland FL, UConn commit Steven Krajewski from Moultrie GA, UAB commit Dylan Hopkins from Maryville TN, and former Illinois commit Cordel Littlejohn from Roswell GA.

I'm not saying we were the top choice for any of those guys, but we ranked Brown higher than them. I can also say with certainty that they day after we took Brown's commitment Beatty committed to Temple and the day after that Hopkins committed to UAB. Maybe it was a coincidence, but probably not.
