Just do not see the Trent Miles hire as being that wonderful for Georgia State
until you look back and see their previous coach only had won one game the
previous three years.
Guess some improvement is better than none, and considering previous records
is really significant..
He did seem to have an improved team by the end of last year also.
Not a lot of people with experience going from nothing to something.
There are two ways to look at coaches. Is Coach A better all things being equal than Coach B?
Those make for fun lists for people to argue about and discuss in off-season.
The other way is, "Is Coach A the right coach School X today?"
Back after the 2010 season AState UL and UNT all made hires and I said repeatedly that each school had made great hires because each got the guy their program needed for the time and I think hindsight has proven that correct.
I'm very high on Joey Jones at USA, he's had two DC's hired away to good gigs, they've gone from nothing to something. Will he go into some national or regional hall of honor? I don't know but he sure looks like the right guy for the situation.
