It did commission an FBS feasibility study (Carr Report), but unlike any other recent move-up, or want-to-be move up, JMU has otherwise been eerily silent on it's intentions.

JMU has a fantastic expandable football stadium, however it is still waiting on a promised new convocation center that was approved (bonds) by the Virginia legislature a few years ago. This project is now in danger of having to be revisited with the legislature because of inflationary changes in costs over time.
This, along with a seeming lack of commitment to men's basketball does not scream "we ant to move up".

JMU has a very supportive fanbase, but has lost 7-8% football attendance per year since the first year Bridgeforth opened.

Given a seriously small endowment, I suspect that finances are at the root of JMU's lack of openness so far.
I am not sure the Carr Report fully addressed the financial implications of wide geographic travel and the placement of non-revenue sports.

In a recent address to the JMU Faculty Senate, President Alger said:
Quote:When we think about different conferences, we’re not talking about the SEC or the Big 10 or the so called ‘power conferences’ that have been getting a lot of publicity recently,” Alger said. “But the options that we’re talking about at the FBS level they’re really more modest conferences — they really look an awfully lot like where we already are
That tells me that he (or his bean counter) has serious reservations and was making a "fall back" statement.

Unlike some, I don't believe that JMU is negotiating with the MAC, because I don't think that the UMass situation has yet been settled. Consequently I doubt the MAC will do anything this year.

I think JMU is trying to make the SBC numbers work and will take as long as it can to do so.
IMO JMU will either accept the SBC overtures, or stay in the CAA.

If JMU does not join, it seems you will expand no matter what.
Just from what I have read and observed; if indeed Liberty cannot get the votes, I would not discount EKU being in play here, and MSU as well.

oh, you again? You have no idea about JMU, at all. Stop polluting threads with your drivel.

JMU is a Virginia Public.
Therefore:

-Your finances are public knowledge, as are so many facets of your school, (and any other Va public including ODU).
-I believe I quoted your president correctly, and within the context of the article as published by JMU.
http://www.breezejmu.org/news/article_9b...f6878.html
-Your endowment is public information
-The decline in your football attendance is public information
-I have also represented correctly the status of your proposed convo.

Those are indeed facts.

Why are you and some off your fans so sensitive and defensive; and apparently angry??
04-cheers
