ACC..Big 12......ALLIANCE????
Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby says league is exploring alliance with ACC, two other leagues for scheduling, marketing, TV and bowls.

Bowlsby told me "nothing is imminent" but the leagues involved have had "multiple discussions" about the potential partnership.

Just stop... These clowns need to learn their place in the pecking order. Alliances only swap who falls in 4th or 5th in power rankings.

SWC and Big 8 had meetings once about forming an Alliance scheduling and TV.... Big 8 ended that discussion by taking four SWC teams.

Before the PAC 10 became the PAC 12 it was talking with the Big 12 about just such cooperation. Then they tried to take a bunch of Big 12 schools and settled on taking 1 plus Utah.

Be careful ACC.

Bowlsby response to expanding with ACC schools: Bowlsby said such an alliance would not be precursor to future expansion, "if anything the opposite."

here is the article with more info.

imagine this-
ACC/Big 12/Big East/MWC

the hoops for one would be great.

also would probably do wonders for bowl purposes.

Be careful ACC.

Or be careful Big XII-UT+ACC=ND Type Partial Membership...remember in 2011 the Longhorns did talk to the people in Greensboro.

Now reality...it makes sense for both in Football & Basketball.

Am I missing something? What true benefit is gained by the ACC/Big 12 by aligning with the Big East/MWC?

The B1G has talked lately of wanting a more flexible bowl situation.

I think both leagues are trying to stave off any members being poached by the Big Ten or SEC. Notice he said this is for marketing, tv, scheduling etc. They want to keep up in the money department.

Would be kind of similar to the MAC with the Big Ten... Also- given how good both BE and MWC are in hoops, would see some benefits there.

And read the initial tweet. what would the other 2 leagues be? Big Ten/Pac 12? don't really see either of those. SEC? maybe, but don't see another one. In some ways, MWC/BE only ones that make sense in a lot of ways.

Also you in bowls could have pooled bowls. So, say there's a year like 2011 where Boise was good, but not quite good enough for the BCS spot. They could play in say an Alamo Bowl vs a Big 12 team. That makes the bowls a lot better as well...

This gives Clemson and FSU a chance to play a Texas or OU every year, without having the travel of Iowa state etc

as a Big 12 fan, I want absolutely NOTHING to do with the ACC, the BE, nor the MWC

they can go suck on the tit of another conference

Sounds as if reality and desperation are starting to hit the Big 12.
