Isn't that waiver only granted if a player only gets to play a few games ?

I believe the standard for a medical redshirt is if a player appeared in 30% or less of a teams games for the year so that ship has sailed.

Yep. 30% and can’t aopear in any game after the halfway point of the regular season.
