RE: Rank'em post week 7
Yes, I would put Toledo first, lots of injuries but they are evolving into an unselfish smart team. losing the top offensive playmaker in the conf - Thompson- makes them less explosive but in a way it might be making them play better team ball.
Ohio
Not exactly sure what to make of this Ohio team that is not your typical Solich group, in that they mostly outscore people. and, the couple games when they suddenly couldn't move the ball makes you wonder about consistency. While, I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple teams below them pass them up, OU is also hungry for that MAC title after coming up just short in recent years.
NIU
EMU
both are next because they have proven they can be consistently competitive. also very similar teams, both are adept at finding ways to lose close games, and have had big special teams breakdowns, but nobody else in the league can match either of their defenses and we are moving into defensive football weather soon-if climate change hasn't totally melted the glaciers by November.
WMU
Akron
Buffalo
obviously are close. all of them are decent teams capable of playing well. Akron seems to be peaking out of this group now but I would keep them like this for another weak.
Miami
will find a way to lose, but you have to admit they are a pretty decent team most of the time, which makes their losing more aggravating.
Kent, CMU, BG, Ball St
Obviously CMU shouldn't be this low, but they've really stunk up some opportunities to do something with the season and I think their marriage to Morris at QB has largely been a disaster. I see them settling into the lower tier.
