There was a lot of speculation on the right hire and now it looks like they hit a HR. Yes, the team hasn't played a game, but the signs are there. The coaching staff seems like they are totally in and very qualified. McGrath took over a tough situation but made the most of what he could get in the Spring signing period. It looks like he has gathered players that can play at this level with both guards possessing plus shooting skills and good length for position. He got a true big and a quick PG that has some skills. It could have even been better if the kid didn't go to Kansas State at the last minute.

Fast forward to this class and the staff already has solid verbals from a crafty PG that has plus passing skills and handles with a good release to recently getting a long SG/WF with a very good overall game that had big time offers. That really speaks volumes to what players think about the program direction. He has two to give and they will most certainly go to bigs. I'd be surprised if he doesn't land 2 good ones given the system that he plays.

UNCW has made a few big mistakes in the past and was not able to sustain excellent hoops over the long haul. This hire definitely doesn't look like a mistake. They practice with purpose and have a defined plan. You can see it already and that's encouraging.

UNCW lost more offensive firepower than practically any team in the nation. Let's just see how the team plays with what they have this year as fans. It's about implementing a system right now and the cupboard isn't completely barren although very inexperienced and not quite optimal for this system. Next year should even be better although we lose Talley. And let me tell you, I absolutely love his game...always have. He's just a winner. He plays the game the right way period. He will set the table, he's a leader/good teammate,make the great pass, drive and finish or get fouled, he will hound somebody and is a killer in transition. Great PG IMHO!
