2017 MAC Football Pick 'Em Tournament
Hello all,
I’d like to start an official MAC Pick ‘Em thread for this year’s upcoming football season. I understand similar threads pop up week to week throughout the season, but for this year I would like to keep track of each poster’s scores throughout the duration of the season. I can do this either through an excel spreadsheet or another format if anyone has suggestions. I think I can attach the excel file to the thread each week in case anyone wants to check my math and keep me honest.
The way I envision this working is as follows:
- Each week, I (or another) will start a thread listing the week’s matchups a minimum of 72 hours prior to kickoff of the first week’s game
- With the exception of week 1, a list of all participants will be included in the thread with a cumulative, season long point total as well as the points added from the previous week’s matchups.
- Picks are made straight-up (just pick who you think will win).
- Picks will be accepted up to one hour prior to kickoff of the first week’s game.
- If a participant misses a week, he/she is not disqualified from the season long contest, but cannot earn points for the week missed.
- (Optional) Was flirting with the idea of including a poll in each weeks thread. Participants can vote for a Game of the Week. Participants who correctly predict the winner of the Game of the Week will be awarded two points.
- Contest concludes at the end of the regular season. If two (or more) participants tie with the highest score at the end of the season, the tie will be broken by picking the winner and the margin of victory in the MAC Championship Game.
- Winner gets bragging rights for a year (and, maybe, just maybe… I’ll mail ya a little trophy).
I’ve only been active on the MAC BBS board for a few years now, so I don’t know if you folks have done something like this before on here. I’m open to suggestions on the format and the rules.
Lastly, I only want to do this if there is significant interest, but I think it would be fun. Please respond here on this thread or via PM if you’d like to participate!
Kind Regards,
BobcatEngineer
