Quite simple.

UC beats Dayton in Cincy - no big deal, does not move the needle in perception or computer rankings.

UC loses to Dayton at UD Arena - nice home win for UD, supports recruiting advantages, bad loss for UC.

There is very little to be gained by defeating UD. There is significant more to lose coming up short against the Flyers. The risk is not worth the very little upside.

That was not meant to be my opinion. It's the way UC looks at the possible series. Heard similar comments from Bohn, Babcock, and Mick over the years.

Personally, I would love the series especially since I'm now on a coaching staff at Dayton. I have been following the Flyers all the way back to when Donoher called time-out just before UD's Donald Smith hit a game winning shot against UCLA in the tournament. The ref waved off the basket which would have ended UCLA's incredible national championship streak.
