Memphis isn't overly expensive but I ended up at UT Martin because tuition/housing was halfway affordable. College costs are exploding due to bureaucracy. Too many "Assistant Vice Dean of" positions have been made. The teachers aren't getting paid. Budgets are being cut, and costs are still going up. Where is the money going? Easy, to irrelevant positions filled by people who are hard to get rid of.
I think its more of students are able to borrow more money than ever. The more we lend , the higher tuition goes up. Colleges are fighting for students like never before .The tuition at UH is like 20k a year now, because students can pay for it (loans are highly available), and sure enough UH has all new dorms, and a shiny new student center. It's all about having the nicest stuff, kids don't care about rankings, they want to have a bowling alley on campus lol
If that's the case maybe we'll get the putt putt course I've been pushing for.
