Last night would have been the time to actually build up some positive energy and get that fourth victory. But we didn't even play our starting QB, because of some vague sprain or something. I think Monken's planning to settle for 3 wins this year and then turn on the jets next year.
you are dead wrong on that one....severity of sprains vary....I've had them all....from the 2-dayer to the high ankle 4 week version....
Monk hates losing to anyone and you know Mullens didn't want to sit...
I will agree if he was iffy, he wasn't going to risk his season with us playing utep after weeks performance last week.....weeks just let go of the rope last night....Monk knows what he has in the stable and if you want to call that sandbagging, I think it was the smart decision.
Lastly, Monk would never 'settle'...it's not in his makeup....
Players do miss time for ankle sprains. Ricky Williams used to miss time for ankle sprains when he was with the Saints, and I never thought he was doggin' it or anything like that.
There are lots of ways that coaches can favor the short term or the long term. If Monken says, "I don't want to risk screwing up this man's ankle over the 2014 UTEP game" (or whatever game we're talking about), I don't have a problem with that.
