But it's old news and I'm not going to get into all of the nuances and differences in how both teams got where they are today.

You're a better team than 2102 but so are we. If you can't accept that fine, I can understand that too. I'm not such a UTSA hater that I wasn't routing for you on Saturday, because I was.

In the G5 world I will totally be for the new guys (except when we play them, of course). Maybe you can't handle that and that's ok, too.

I'm not big on smack talk either, but if you're gonna make a statement like that, it's not unreasonable to expect you to be able to back it up, a course of action you're apparently not choosing to pursue. I'm no Texas State hater, but if UTSA is thrown into a convo and I feel statements are said which I believe to be erroneous, I'll jump in. I don't normally do that on other boards though, but I just had to say something this time.

Your next game against Navy will be more telling in regards to where you guys are this year. Arkansas-Pine Bluff is no one. They went 2-9 last season against a pathetic schedule and even lost to our mutual former Southland Conference mate McNeese State 58-14 last year.

UAPB was worse than a HS scrimmage...that's a given. Navy will be a tough one.

lol...The team I was rooting for Friday night would have lost to Ark-Pine Bluff. Travis Bush may have been the second biggest mistake we have made in hiring over the last 3 years. Looking like Levine's hire was the biggest.

Kudos to both the Texas move ups. When it came time to hire a head coach, each of you chose proven experienced candidates---Franchione and Coker. I have no idea what our administration was thinking promoting an unproven special teams coach whos only head coaching experience was a single year as a HS "freshman" team HC. Simply mind boggling.

My son goes to Texas State Ill probably try to make a game or two up there. Good Luck this season.
I'm not sold on Bush being a bad hire. I lean more towards Levine not giving Bush free reign on the level with his position. Not pulling O'Korn is on Levine. The OLine is just small and UTSA has a huge DLine. The OLine starts with the OLine coach. If they can't block, he's the first one in line of blame.
If the team is not doing anything you have to go vanilla with your game-plan.
Bush was at TXST for the best 4-5 years in recent history. He was allowed to do what he did best and it worked but when that free reign was taken away, he left.
He's young and, yeah, maybe he isn't ready for OC yet (even if I think he is) but just maybe Levine is holding him back. Not a good thing if your HC is overriding you.

Levine has never been an offensive or defensive coordinator--so I doubt he is micromanaging Bush. Essentially the entire Houston offense and entire UTSA defense returned from last year. So these are essentially the EXACT same players that faced off last year. Head coaches are the same. The only significant difference is the new Houston OC who installed his own self designed offense. Houston scored 59 points against UTSA last year with Meachum as thier OC. This year, with the new Bush offense the team could only manage 59 YARDS by the finish of the 3rd quarter. The new offense scored 52 LESS points.

Im assuming he is usingthe same system he had success with at Tx State---but it may be a case of certain concepts that work well at the FCS level dont translate well to the FBS level where the game is faster. Kinda like some things that work in FBS don't translate to the NFL.

Thus far, I'm not vey impressed with Bush. I guess we will see if he can get things back on track. We play a bad FCS Grambling sqaud this week so I'm sure Bush is working on an agressive game plan that will bury Grambling beneath a withering 14 point scoring avalanche.

Personally I think it will be over for both Levine and Bush when they crash and burn running that bland offense against a BYU team that's far more athletic than UTSA.
