Sun Belt Network - CSS being replaced by LFSN?
Im just curious and realize all things Liberty seem to stir the pot here, but thats not the intention.
Are there any rumors of what will be replacing CSS as the regional TV provider for the Sun Belt Network? I realize Cox Sports Louisiana is still on board but they only blanket a small part of the footprint (2 million homes?)
Football season is approaching fast as its already April and TV programming needs time to plan. Is there any chance that LFSN affiliates in the SBC footprint fill the void if Liberty is added? Of their 80 million households, a large portion of them would be located in SBC territory including in Idaho and the states around Idaho.
The production could be done by individual schools and sent to the LFSN for distribution. AggieVision does this already and so does most of the MAC schools.
CSS was only 5 million households and LFSN would greatly increase that in the South and also reach the out-posts of New Mexico, Idaho and the Northwest that CSS didn't reach while being configured in a way that keeps it regional and not violate the ESPN contract.
DirecTV and Dish couldn't be included because they would be considered "national" but Of the 80 million, 53 million were from affiliate stations and that could be customized to just a regional subset of say 20 million in the SBC regional territory. Added to Cox, it would be better than CSS for the Sun Belt Network and could get off the ground in time for the season. Add AggieVision to the mix to help produce content.
Is there another rumored replacement for CSS?
