I could not see ASU supporting UMass unless it was a situation where we were guaranteed all sports invites to Missouri State and NMSU.

I am torn on an invitation. If they would agree to a scheduling alliance in basketball similar to what the MAC had...I could see the benefit to a football only invite, provided we still picked up an East and West all sports school closer by.

A scheduling alliance like that would open up a can of worms with us that is for sure. We are essentially the same as UMass.

No offense, but you guys are not close to Umass. They are much better at basketball, and your football potential is much better.

The question becomes. Lets say the league goes to a 14/14 alignment

West

Idaho (UTA)
NMSU
Missouri State
AState
ULL
Texas State
ULM

East

Umass
JMU/Liberty/EKU
Georgia State
Georgia Southern
App State
Troy
USA

In this alignment...Every West team has go to Idaho, but plays at UMass once every 5 years or so by the time you run the scheduling. Every East school has to go to UMass, but plays at Idaho once every 5 years.

If UMass then agreed to play 4 rotating SBC Basketball teams in a home and home each year...it would then give everyone an opportunity to significantly increase basketball OOC Scheduling, while still offering substantial improvements to travel schedules all sports, and limiting Long Trips in football to 1 a year.
