There are ways we can all afford this expense but I wonder if there will be an annual cost of living adjustment. We would be fine without it if all of the non-AQ conferences stuck together but they won't so we have to do it if our peers do.
The multi-year scholarships are going to be interesting. I hope there are more rules coming. Schools could end up in bidding wars over an athlete.
Just like the 25 limit in the SEC will help us, we could game the system here as well. If the competition results in the big boys signing most of their guys to 4 year deals then they are no longer able to "encourage" players to quit to make room which leaves more on the table for us.
I don't have a problem with the year to year scholarships. I lost a scholarship after my first semester because I didn't work hard enough to make my grades. These guys are signed for their athletic ability. If they don't work hard enough on the field then they should be open to losing their ride.
