When I lived in upstate New York, I personally met Ukranians who had obtained refugee status because they were Pentacostal.
According to this Web site, about 1,400 Pentacostals from the former Soviet Union had been resettled in the Utica area by 1996 (click on "history"):

I never heard a peep of complaint about it.
In 1998, Congress reaffirmed that people may seek asylum in the United States because of religious persecution:

The vote was unanimous in the Senate, and it passed on a voice vote in the House.
