Raise your hand if you had Georgia state and UTA losing by 25 points each.

Crazy, Right?

RE: Opening weekend of conference play: 12/29 and 12/31
We looked like they expected the other team to lay down because we are UTA. They looked awful, something I don’t believe I’ve ever said on this board. We had no interest in defending the three (something I have said before) and Coach Ellis looked like a guy who knows how to coach and find weakness. I hope everyone was watching tape of this game.

My only solace is that this could be the punch to the mouth we need, but after last years embarrassment in the conference tournament, we shouldn’t need any from this senior team.

Side note: We won a basketball game!

Didn't necessarily look great doing it. Trailed ULM for the first 30 minutes before the defense began to figure things out. But a win is a win I guess. Especially after they knocked us out of the tournament last year.

Cajuns come to town Sunday. Only thing I think we have going for us is that we're so much smaller than them that we might be able to force matchup problems with their 6'6 wing trying to guard one of our small guards. On the other hand, they should be able to dominate inside and win by 20.

How bout those Chants!

UTA has lost both times they've come to Conway now (2 years in a row).

I hope that's a streak we can keep up, because that's a good program we just beat again.

Defense was dynamite in the second half. You could tell that was a point of emphasis during halftime butt chewing. They scored 41 in the first half and something like 8 points in the first 12 minutes of the second.

ULM isn’t any good, but it was quite nice to see some signs of life from us. We’ve got three pretty good players on our squad, which is enough to cause havoc. Unfortunately it’s the most shallow team ever and the drop off from first to second group is massive.

CCU was a disappointing loss but I strongly believe UTA is the better team. And the season is still young, they have time to get their stuff together and get out of their funk.

Coach Cross has a fantastic coaching staff and they will figure it out, I'm not worried yet. Congrats CCU, can't wait to see ya'll be sent home in the conference tourney lol

It's a hard sell to "strongly believe UTA is the better team" when we beat you by 25 points. 07-coffee3

Either way, good luck to you guys the rest of the way unless you're playing the Chants.

Georgia Southern looks very similar to last season. We're pathologically incapable of playing 40 complete minutes in any game, but 25-30 minutes of our shooters - and now featuring better defense and rebounding - is enough to get a lot of teams on most nights.

All I will say is that no one plays a full game of basketball and commits only 8 fouls. 30 FTs to 2 is even beyond what people complained about Duke. You can say we aren't any good but we made more FGs, shot a higher % from the field, both 2 and 3, and outrebounded Ark St. The 3 guys in stripes decided that game.

Must be something in our north Louisiana drinking water, because that's our standard excuse too.
