FWIW, I agree with Bill Laurie (the point guard for the 1972-73 NCAA Tourney Final game). A program builds fans through winning over a period of time. Few people follow a losing program.
Unfortunately as can be seen now, it does not take long for attendance to lag and support wan. However, the resources are still in place for success and taking appropriate actions quickly to address coaching failure will help preserve and grow the resources.

Seriously, congrats. And in before somebody turns it into a USF/UCF pissing contest.

Bill Laurie is a former starting PG for Memphis, alongside Larry Finch, Larry Kenon and Ronnie Robinson, on that Gene-Bartow coached 1973 F2 team that lost to Bill Walton and UCLA.
Laurie married one of Sam Walton's (founder of Walmart) daughters. Between that and smart business investments he is worth about a gazillion billion, lol. Well, enough billions, anyway.
Facility is named "The Laurie-Walton Family Basketball Center."
This facility cost $20.5M. He chipped in $10M with promise of plenty more to come. Maybe he'll chip in a bit for an OCS later on, lol.
With the way our weather goes some years, it should be a domed OCS.
For USFFan's benefit......
Nancy and Bill attended Memphis (State) together. I was thinking that she was a cheerleader while he was a player, but can't remember for sure. She is Bud Walton's daughter.

Actually, she was a player and he was a cheerleader.

Ah yes, Bud, not Sam. I always forget that. Thanks.
I also think she was a cheerleader, but my memory is starting to fade.

Mine was more of a joke about how many people felt USF shouldn't spend money on a new football facility but rather put that toward an on campus stadium, not intended in any way as a swipe at you guys at all.

FWIW...what was true at one time is not necessary true today. To attract top athletes they expect to have the best of everything. It's hard to attract a pretty girl if all you are driving is a beat up car. Maybe it shouldn't be that way but it is. Memphis was fortunate to have a long history of winning before everything changed.

Couldn’t you just let them enjoy this thread without turning it into a comparison? Seems S. Florida fans are always inciting comparisons. So much insecurity.

It may be sooner than a couple of years, depending on Tubby’s success on the court and on the recruiting trail.
Don’t turn this into a Tubby bash fest. Grow up and admire the building. Shouldn’t have to tell grown men that smh
Let's focus on aspects related to the AAC and the Memphis Tigers and not Tiger fans.
Glad you came to your senses
