calls were blown and Troy won. USA had opportunities to take the game out of the official's hands and didn't. end of discussion.

The last point is a cop out ... you're blaming the refs for losing the game.

I'm not too happy that they moved our game to the "High Profile" Friday night spot.

TV coverage. Great!

But now we are going to miss out on a lot of fun tailgating. Barring another monsoon.

And a smaller crowd for Troy since taking off work for a football road trip isn't always an option.
I mean really.... Those hogs ain't going to slop themselves.

Just pointing out you can't leave points on the field against Troy in Troy and expect to win. We played well enough to win but made enough mistakes to lose. It happens. Who pulled your string and why do you care?

I never said the refs got suspended. The refs made some questionable calls, but I was referring to the targeting/late hit that occurred right in front of a ref that was not called. The Sun Belt reviewed the game film for targeting (NCAA requirement) and issued a suspension accordingly.

As a side note, Troy winning this game might have saved Larry Blakeney's job... Would he have been able to survive another losing season with a loss to 1st year FBS team and rival USA? I know a few Troy fans that don't think so.

Your source for all things Troy (Atlanta Trojan) has no idea what is going on at Troy.

No offense Skully, I've never met you, but you are coming off as being pretty whiny. I'm going to guess you are somewhat young. Fifteen years from now the only stat that will matter is the score. Very few will remember how it happened. The tip pass for a touchdown by your team or a fade to ET for my team to win the game will likely be forgotten. Telling people you had the better team, even though you lost makes me question most anything you post.

I'm not blaming the refs. We couldn't make plays when it counted. Go home, kid.

ps. we were good enough to mop the floor with every team we played from your state

RE: South Alabama vs Troy
I heard other Troy fans who felt Larry was in his last year last year. Many on this board think it's this year.

Y'all can think I'm whiny all you want. I simply added to a post about last year's game brought up by another poster. I mentioned the points we left on the field and how I thought the outcome could have been different based on the stats. Isn't that what we as fans do? Y'all kill me.

You've put too much stock in a frustrated fanbase.

Breaking out the kid comment? Come on, that's when you know you've lost. If you're not blaming the refs, then why bring them up?

RE: South Alabama vs Troy
It is pretty clear the South guy is not talking about the score or the win, but the flavor of the game. It is clear he believes with a break here or there USA wins. IMO he is building a case for the future success of USA not the past. I tend to agree except he needs to drop the referee comments looks petty.

A few years back, North Texas lost every game they played, but they out gained their opponents by 150 to 200 yards. They were very high in total offense, but very low in scoring offense. Could move it, but couldn't punch it in.

The only stat that counts is the W/L column. Troy has out gained its SBC opponents the last two years with the exception of two or three games. Troy lost a lot more SBC games than just two or three and I would never say we were the best team in the SBC because of stats.

I'll say it again, USA had several chances to seal the deal, gift wrapped with a bow tie from Troy and USA couldn't cash in. If they were the better team, the Troy fumble in the red zone and the two gift wrapped TDs would have been enough. Yet despite all of that, Troy still won the game.

Doesn't really matter. The score will always remain the same and will be the only thing people remember.

Amen! Every fanbase is the same when their team is not performing to expectations...Troy fans just have very high expectations.

Coach's jobs, as far as fans go, are only safe as long as the rings keep coming. Fortunanty, the fans dont hire and fire. Larry is a legend and everyone on this board knows it. He's had some trouble in the twilight of his career but that does NOT diminish what he has done to date, ala Bobby Bowden.

I dont expect Larry to be with us for another 10 years, but I also dont expect him to have to have the door shown...he will bow out before that happens. We expect a better team this season, let's see if Blakeney can deliver...I think the "old mans" still go it.
