Interesting that you chose to attack my opinion with a prediction regarding a team you obviously feel passionate about that has nothing to do with this thread topic. Would it make you feel better if I agreed with you? I know you're trying to elicit a riot, but you picked the wrong poster to be smug with. I'm not a naive fanatic fanboy stuck in complete denial like most of our posting brethren. Of course Alabama is going to beat PSU this week. So what? I'll still watch and enjoy the game. That doesn't have anything to do with the thread topic or my opinion on what's at stake for the C-USA schools.
Your "all the CUSA teams are screwed" and "none of them will ever get into a BCS conference" should have gotten you called several unflattering names. Your comments didn't deserve a decent response because they were stupid and not well thought out.
So therefore, I decided to insult your stupid comments with a true statement. How that smuggy fitting you now? BTW, don't read to much into my handle and assume I am a Alabama fan.

RE: Memphis is screwed
Memphis was screwed to start with. As long as their football program is a doormat, and a perennial contender for ESPN's bottom 10, no BCS conference will want to expand in their direction. Football is driving the expansion bus, and it's fueled with TV money. Memphis doesn't make sense financially for any BCS conference...

I think the MWC and CUSA each lose 2-4 schools.
If the Big East and Big XII want to remain their own individual AQ conferences, then this is the only avenue for that to happen. JMO.

They were supposed to be dead last year too, and then it didn't happen. I'm not ready to write them off yet. Until Texas goes to another league or independent that league exists and has an AQ spot.

It will depend on what OU/OSU do at this point. My guess is UT could maintain an AQ conference all by itself if it wanted to. But the key is "if it wants to". I do not believe that UT by itself would want to maintain a conference back filled with a lot of former non-AQ schools. However, if UT can somehow work with ND to build a brand new conference then that would be something completely different. I think OU/OSU would not move on if ND could be coaxed to join with them. But in this scenario, I would expect that several schools currently in the BigXII would not be asked to join in this new conference and I could see a number of ACC and BE schools desiring to join up with a conference with ND, OU and UT as members.

Yeah...but miko just could resist the opportunity to take another shot at Memphis.

miko, I doubt ND will partner with Texas, giving up the exposure in the east for the vast majority of their fans. It just doesn't make much sense to me, unless The BEast ceases to exist...

Well, I think some are forgetting that the ACC and B10 may be/probably will be a future player in this conference shuffle also. If PAC and SEC are expanding, then odds are, they will too.

I hear the Oscar meyer wiener mobile is coming through your town. If you ask them nicely they may take you for a spin because we all know how much you would love to ride the wiener. It is rumored they have one of those ball pits in their, so they will probably let you play with the balls as well. I know you would enjoy that.

ND would join a conference whenever it can be assured that the majority of the schools have the right demographics, i.e. large, growing populations that have a high percentage of Catholics. To head you off at the pass, I realize that the southwest also have a significant population of Hispanics (Catholics) that are more in line with soccer than CFB. However, people will assimilate into the indigenous culture sooner or later. Natural eastern schools that would be good for ND are Pitt, SU, BC, RU and MD that are in high Catholic population centers and in states/regions with good metro regions. Miami would be a great add too - except for the fact that the looming NCAA sanctions could be a long term program killer...PSU would match up too but I highly doubt they ever leave the B1G under any circumstances.
Since everyone loves conference scenarios...
East Div
ND
Miami
Pitt
BC
SU
RU
*WVU/FSU
West Div
UT
OU
OSU
TT
KU
UL
*BYU/Mizzou
* for a 14 school conference, depending on what the SEC does with WVU and Mizzou
Also, bear in mind I was trying to find as many Catholic areas as possible + balance out the west. No offense intended if your school is left out.[/b]

Stupid thread and not accurate. Memphis has been to bowl game 5 of the last 8 years in Football. Hardly a doormat over the last 10 years. Top 10 basketball national basketball program (top 10 in attendence too) and 2nd highest non-bcs athletic revenue in all of college sports (BYU is slightly higher). Additionally Memphis likely has the best national brand (mainly due to basketball success) of any non-bcs school.
Memphis is being put down by many on this board because of their record over the last two years.

SMU went 1-10 in 2008. ECU went 1-11 in 2003 and 2-9 in 2004. Louisville won 1 game in 1997. Syracuse won 2 games two years ago. If you are basing decisions on current record or recent success it is faulty logic. Every program has to rebuild at some point.

Preaching to the choir (as far as I am concerned) but they are right. This is what have you done for me lately.
Bit us in the butt when the SWC fell apart. We were on a downward slide at the worst time.

That's because they consider ignoring the facts, and want you to rely on their faith instead. But when you rely only on somebody's faith, what they're really telling you is believe what they tell you no matter how ridiculous is sounds...
