Adding bleachers for basketball. - CoastalVANDAL - 08-21-2019 09:15 AM

Read the story about UMKC moving back to the recreation center for basketball.
Read that the bleachers move into place by remote control 1,500 seats.

I was wondering if one or two sets of similar bleacher not chair back baseline seating could be added.
Each section of bleachers would be 500 seat if the same height.
A capacity of 2,000 or 2,500 would be ideal for a building program.

I'm not familiar with the Swinney Recreation Center, but pictures on the Hussey Seating Company website indicate space limitations on the end lines. It looks like there are two very large vertical supports at the competition court end line area. (Hussey Seating installed the remote control seating system.)

The video on the Hussey Seating website shows the seating system set up. It's interesting (at least to me). :-)

Yeah it is interesting to me also not sure why.
Looking at the court set up looks like there is room to add baseline seating.
We have a sportscenter in Myrtle beach that sets up fairly thin rolling bleachers for a big game. Improving the atmosphere and having a low to mid two thousand seat capacity could work. The next step when that is proved to be to small build an arena. LIU-Brooklyn has a 2500 seat set up at their recreation center seems looks pretty nice.

Looks like three full courts with running track around it typical rec set up.
Turn the court sideways plenty of room.
The competition court would be painted over the middle of the three rec courts.
Another option build a new recreation center easier to fund.
Get rid of the track Install permanent seating behind the movable stands.
Add movable baseline seating probably 3500 seats.
