It wouldn't surprise me that this extension is in large part due to the Nebraska victory. So Carey may have Santa to thank for keeping his job. Ironic.

I think it was the fake punt from the 11 against Duke. I'll bet Frazier was so impressed with that ballsy play call, that it bought Carey another 5 years.

Great post. Our best 2 games of the year end up being the Nebraska win, and the SDSU loss. Those OOC games ended up saving Carey’s job.

And now I eagerly await for Monty's extension. He will be extended due to the fact that some of his players show up for the games. Let's extend both Carey and Monty to 2030, so we won't have any contract worries for the next decade +. But.....what will we talk about till then? I know - buyout!!!

Enough already. Sean Frazier and the athletic department have got to stop with this cloak and dagger crap. IF you're giving a coach an extension, then come out and issue a press release making it official, explain why, give the rationale, and the basics regarding length.
An extension should be a reward for success or achieving certain goals which means it's a good thing. If it's a good thing, then there's no reason not to make it public.
