C-USA no longer a 1 bid league? - bamabhoy - 01-11-2018 10:16 AM

At least according to this, we are a 0 bid league. Unless I overlooked a C-USA team, which is very possible. And yes, I do know it is a mistake by Joe Lunardi and our conference tournament champion automatically makes the tournament.

I saw that. I assume he meant Western Kentucky rather than Northern Kentucky at the 14 seed. Still...

He has MTSU in the first 4 out. Probably just an oversight.

I think he has 2 from the Southern and there is no way they get 2.

Plenty of time to correct it.

But, if the top 6 teams work on their OOC schedule, and the conference does what they are talking about, I could see us working our way to 2 bids a year in the future.

MTSU & WKU are close. We might be closer if Richmond & Chattanooga were not so bad and we replaced a couple of patsies with competitive games.

WKU is listed as a 12 seed in the EAST bracket against Auburn.

We could definitely work the league back up to two bids. It would help if the bottom wouldn’t be awful, but the top can do it on their own if they schedule well enough. We haven’t done our part, but i have hope we can in the near future.

At this point we may need the top portion of the league to canabalize itself. We need the top teams to beat up on one another. That would raise ratings among them and, possibly, that of the league. Of course, that may further insure a 1-bid league if the conference champion has 4 conference losses...

As long as most of the losses come from the teams in the top half, we could still get 2 in.

But, we need the top half to schedule well, win some of them, then the conference changes scheduling so the top teams play each other more, later in the year.

It will affect seeding but its just something we have to deal with somehow if we want a chance to get 2 teams in regularly. And all teams would share in the extra money from that.

if the top 6 teams play the other 5 times 4 times, 2 home & away that could separate them from the bottom half. We pretty much need to tell the bottom teams, sorry but you suck. Deal with it. And let them play each other so the upper half doesn't get dragged down from playing them.

And we half to punish teams & coaches who wont schedule stronger. I don't know if its a loss of seeding or what.

In other words, OOC SOS could mean 1 spot in the tournament seeding. If its too low.
