Students can earn a complete 4-year degree in nursing (as well as several other health profession degrees) at the RR campus. You can also get an MBA and a several other Bachelors/Masters degrees in RR.

Our RR campus is set up pretty nicely in that there's plenty of undeveloped land for future growth and it's directly between the Austin Community College RR Campus and St David's Medical Center...perfect place for a nursing school.

Sounds very similar to what they are trying to do with us. How has it worked out at Texas State? Have y'all noticed any negative impacts on your main campus such as decreased attendance and such?

Our enrollment has increased ever since I started at TXST in 09. The only negative impact I can think of is that some students have to move north to go to nursing school in Round Rock. For example a friend of mine had to move to round rock after our sophomore year so she could start nursing school. Didn't really see her much after that.

Let me put it to you this way...we'll be fine unless we recruit worse than we did for many years as an FCS team.

These are the 3-star players on our 2014 Roster who started:
Jonathan Battle (injured for most of 2014)
Matt Dobson (safety)
Nardo Govan (H-back)
Jay Ellison (defensive lineman)
Darrius Sapp (defensive lineman)

This team went 8-0 in the Sun Belt and was maybe a top-10 G5 team.

Forgive me if I don't worship at the altar of recruiting rankings. 07-coffee3

And Matt Breida was a two-star recruit with only a few very low-level FBS offers.

And? The all american list, team rankings, draft and every other list is filled overwhelmingly with higher ranked recruits % wise.

Anecdotal is anecdotal....like one player or one season. For every season you can list there are hundreds that support rankings, for every player you can name there are thousands that support the rankings etc etc...

If you got punched in the face every day of your life by people wearing red hats and one day it was just people wearing blue hats you are an idiot if you think the next day you chances of getting punched by a person in a blue hat is the same as a person wearing a red one....That is basically the anti rankings people argument...and deserved to be punched in the face most of the time with the anecdotal BS they float...

Honestly how the BOR keeping us from doctoral status now is beyond comprehension.

We now have the all the Hinesville and Savannah political push to nudge them a little more. I am sure before a lot of them were for expansion of Armstrong over GS and now it is the same thing.

I heard that the BOR owns all the vacant land around that campus. I don't know if that's true but I do think there is room to expand that campus if they need to. It won't ever be as large as the one in Statesboro though. And getting big name teams to come play us would literally be the point of using that arena. Plus the city of Savannah would probably cut us a deal since a game like that would help boost their economy. You think Little Rock is making Arkansas pay an arm and a leg to host a game in their city every year?

Not true and and yes a little room which is the point a little room. Yes I am sure Sav govt well be bending over backwards to bring in three thousand people at best for a Sun Belt basketball game.

You think us hosting Duke or UNC in Savannah would only bring 3,000 fans max? That’s outrageously laughable.

I think 5k is about right, 3k is too low......but it is Savannah, not sure how well attended it would be overall.

The game would be a sell out. A school like Duke or UNC would bring 5k fans alone plus the Georgia Southern fans who would attend.

The only thing that is laughable is thinking we would ever get Duke to give up a home game to play us in Savannah..07-coffee3

RE: The Future of Georgia Southern is in Savannah - CC Eagle - 01-22-2018 07:57 PM

Georgia Southern basketball scheduling suffers because of the lack of any great programs in the area. If there was a perennial top-20 ACC or SEC school right down the road, we’d get the occasional marquee home game, even if it requires playing in Savannah, from teams that are already in the immediate area and could get a second game without paying for another flight.

Unfortunately, we’re a solid 4-hour bus ride from GT and UGA and even farther from Florida or Florida State. There’s simply no reason for any good team to go this far out of the way.

I wish we were on South Carolina’s radar. They were a final 4 team last year and they're only 2 hours from Statesboro.

I’m unaware of the recruits and HS programs around the Savannah area for b ball. If they were ever to become premier or if there was an elite Private HS that changes the skill level then I could see premier games coming to Savannah. At least it would help

RE: The Future of Georgia Southern is in Savannah - Georgia_Power_Company - 01-24-2018 08:41 AM

I happened to drive by the land purchased for the new South Campus this morning and noticed that they have begun construction on what looks like a new main entrance off of Lanier Drive just across from the Islands Development.

This is how GaSt is getting P5 to come to ATL along with being very easy to get to. You could fill up a good portion of the stadium with high three star+ recruits and at most it would be a 40 minute drive for those recruits to get there. Some dont even need to own a car.

If the South campus gets a green light it will be a game changer.

The entrance near those Purple buildings (proposed research labs) on the bottom right is what they have started building.

Also Tormenta FC announced potential plans to build a 5,000 seat soccer arena should their bid to join the USL be accepted. The announcement that Tormenta FC's bid has been accepted will take place during a press briefing tomorrow. The arena will go on the corner of Veterans Memorial and the Atkins Blvd extension of South Campus which is in the top left corner of the South Campus renderings.

The stadium site is actually right next to what you referenced. It’s supposed to be built on what is currently the driving range at Hackers.

Only two lights. Of course with all the scoring going on that's enough. It is a nice looking stadium.

South Campus looks awesome. Love how the campus is expanding AROUND the football stadium!!!! As apartments age and become less attractive to student body, they will be bought out or demolished for expansion of more desirable living / campus buildings.

Really great to see the attention that are is getting.

My new chapter house has been built across street from the Stadium (Robin Hood Trail) and it makes for an awesome game day atmosphere.
