I disagree....
The NFL/Players Association labor agreement says there no guaranteed contracts in the NFL. Any team can kick any player to the curb. Loyalty is not included in the player's agreement on either side.
A player might pass on more money from team A to stay with team B, but he's a sucker because team B might release him before the season. For a player, you have to make choices to maximize career earnings.
Think about when the Browns kicked Joe Haden to the curb, at the end of preseason. Pittsburgh picked him up. And you know the Steelers asked him the same sort of questions that the Patriots are going to ask Harrison

It's a business. An entertainment business. So is "big time" college sports. Any loyalty that may have once existed went out the window decades ago. And much of the "loyalty" on the players' parts back then was forced loyalty.

I agree with you. I’ll admit Benedict Arnold was a poor choice of words due to his reputation. My point was New England didn’t sign him for his football ability just for his inside knowledge. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was gone or inactive come playoff time.

For those criticizing JH's move to NE, a question you should ask yourselves, "What would you do?" Especially if you wanted to get a paycheck, and you still had a passion for the game. Playing the "allegiance card" does not apply here. After all, professional athletes are basically mercenaries.
Nor would it apply to you if you lost your job, and were offered a job from the company's competitor.
Be happy JH is still playing, regardless of the team.

No one but me is criticizing him and I really wasn’t. I’m just saying not to get too excited about him playing for the Patriots because I don’t think they really want him to play. If I were him I’d take the money too.

I think the desire to play still burns in Harrison. It sounds like the Patriots have a need, having a lot of injuries at defensive end. I hope he plays in another Super Bowl

I read some articles and they were all consistent that JH was unhappy that he was not getting to play since the whole reason to not be retired was to get to play.
Also don't the Patriots have some injuries on defense? They may need a defensive player in addition to wanting to pick his brain.

Interestingly enough I guess some Steelers fans are not too happy with Harrison. Apparently at least one is burning his jersey (the one LeBron jersey burner apparently moved to Pittsburgh). I had no idea when I posted the other day but I guess it was similar to when Varejo was let go by the Cavs and then signed by Golden State. A few fans were upset by that too. In that case Varejo did not ask to be turned loose, I guess Harrison did. I still think it his right to do as he wants but it has rubbed some fans the wrong way.

Also, looks like he rubbed his old teammates the wrong way by not showing up to meetings/practice and not offering advice to the younger players.

I really don't care who plays where. The NFL is one, big multi-billion dollar a year entertainment giant, and all the teams are just franchises, just like McDonald's restaurants or KFCs. I don't have any affinity towards any professional franchises like I do towards my alma mater.

Harrison is not in NE for the money. He is making $59k for his one game. James wanted out of Pittsburgh all season because he wasn't playing. I assure you, he could care less about the money. Allegedly was a terrible teammate and disrespectful to the coaches trying to get himself cut (which shows it wasn't about getting paid). He thinks he can play and he believes he will get that chance in NE. That is what this is about. For those saying NE signed him to give the scouting report on the Steelers, the NEP have owned the Steelers of late. They don't need the scouting report. And the Steelers recently signed Steven Ridley who spent 4 years with, of all teams, the NEP. I am a Steelers fan and sad it ended this way because he was a Steelers legend, and in due time I am sure this will pass, but his method towards this was less than ideal.
