Mississippi Valley State - KevMo4UAB - 12-22-2017 04:12 PM

The 0-12 Delta Devils come into Saturday’s game against UAB ranked 351st by KenPom.com. There are 351 D1 basketball schools. I suspect there isn’t a whole lot of difference between Alabama A&M and Mississippi Valley State. UAB beat AAMU 90-58.

The Massey Composite has MVS at 247, ranging from 313 to 350. The Massey Composite only gets updated once a week and doesn’t have the latest 351 from KenPom. Who has them at 313? RPI. Why? Because of MVS’ schedule. KenPom rates their schedule as the 22nd strongest OOC schedule.

KenPom has it UAB 80 - MVS 57. I think it will be worse than 23 points. My prediction is 95 - 65.

Who is the most famous athlete to play for Mississippi Valley State?

Jerry Rice

RE: Mississippi Valley State - KevMo4UAB - 12-22-2017 04:32 PM

Yep, Jerry Rice. NFL teams would know Jerry Rice and Joe Montana were coming to town and yet they would get burned for two or three touchdowns just about every game.

Mississippi Valley State is projected to go 5-13 in the SWAC this season and 5-26 overall. The SWAC is the worst rated conference in the country. The best team in the SWAC is Texas Southern, coached by Mike Davis. They too are 0-12, but they have come close to upsetting Washington State, Clemson, Toledo, Oregon, and Wyoming. Mississippi Valley State hasn’t come within 12 points of beating anybody. Their closest losses were by 13 at Samford, 13 at Kent State, and 13 at Loyola Chicago.

We need to be promoting the heck out of the home game vs MTSU

RE: Mississippi Valley State - ATTALLABLAZE - 12-22-2017 05:10 PM

What was the first professional football team to draft Jerry Rice?

MTSU at Princeton tonight on ESPNU at 4:30PM...

It's a shame that our most important conference game is first and falls between Christmas and New Year.

Birmingham Stallions.

I’m excited to be back home and attend my first basketball game of the season. I shall yell FRW into the void that is Bartow Arena at 2pm on the Saturday before Christmas.

Got an important game today vs USC. A win would be nice for the conference.

Really now, or just nice for them.

I have concerns playing such a patsie right before an important conference game.
A more challenging game would have been a better idea. Of course, we don't have many of those before conference play starts.
Will be interesting to see if Lavender plays today.

Cokley not dressed and in a boot. I was at the bowl game... did something happen to him in the New Orleans game?

I knew his ankle was hurt but I sure hope he is not out for the year.

Smallwood & Sullivan are starting today. I didn't have the radio on to hear if they talked about it in the pregame.

RE: Mississippi Valley State - Memphis Blazer - 12-23-2017 03:10 PM

Smallwood with the first basket of the game!

Is Lee hurt too or did Sullivan just earn the start because he actually plays like he wants to be on the court?

Lee might need to be our 6th man given how lackadaisical he plays most of the time.

RE: Mississippi Valley State - Memphis Blazer - 12-23-2017 03:18 PM

UAB in love with the three this game. Perry, Norton and Darling each have one, but have missed a couple of threes that were probably taken too soon.

RE: Mississippi Valley State - UABfan1 - 12-23-2017 03:21 PM

Nate really is a great passer when he drives & dishes. I didn't see much of that last year.

RE: Mississippi Valley State - Memphis Blazer - 12-23-2017 03:21 PM

At the under 12 timeout, UAB 14-13.

UAB already 4 of 8 from three pointer. Norton, Perry, Bryant and Darling have each made one and missed one.

Yep.

Our post game isn't the same with a missing Cokley and Lee.

Smallwood seemed to only get 1 touch on offense.

Lavender is in now.
