2018 Football Schedule - TheWoodenNickle - 11-22-2017 06:58 AM

Home games: Monmouth, Army, Central, NIU, and Toledo.

Road games: San Diego State, Purdue, Western, and BSU.

MAC East: TBD. I expect it to be Buffalo, Kent, and Akron. Hopefully two of them are home games.

Sounds much better with six home games.

San Diego State will be a very tough game. They are good.

We will likely get Miami again at home. MAC tries to do 2-year series in cross division matchups. We played 3 games in a row, so they owe us one at home before we wrap up the 2nd series. I would think we get Kent and Buffalo as the other two MAC East teams.

No gimmes among those 4 non-conference games. Monmouth is 9-2 and we'll be facing them with a rookie QB. It would be nice to take down Purdue (similar to KY in my opinion). Hoping to road trip that one.

I'm hoping we are good. I have a week at a timeshare in So. Cal (an hour from San Diego) so I'll be out there for the SDSU game.

Mid-September is nice in So. Cal. (actually the entire year is).

Dear Friends,
Our out of conference schedule will be as tough as this past year. San Diego State will be difficult, Purdue seems to be improving, and Army has our number. Maybe with Army at home in 2018, we might be able to defeat them.
Does anyone have an idea what the payout will be from Purdue? Not expecting a million. Thought it would be in the $500,000 to $750,000 range.

I hope Monmouth is going to count toward a 6 win minimum to qualify for a bowl:

Dear Friends,
I heard through the grapevine that Athletic Director Wetherbee is scheduling future games with Wisconsin and Minnesota, and has no interest in scheduling Michigan or Michigan Sate.

UM is ripe for an upset. It would be nice play them.

I want more Rutgers and Kentucky - not GOOD teams. C'mon Wetherbee - don't do this to us. Let's get BC or Vandy on there. Kansas.

Agree!!! Playing WI is a season-downer. It is nothing more than a $ body bag game.

Gentlemen,
Let's not go over board about Wisconsin. First, if, the game is scheduled, we don't know how far into the future. Could be ten years from now.

I hear you, but WI hasn't been down since the days of the Soviet Union. I believe WI has been a CFB power since the 90s.

Also think of how much $$$ they will give us. I would think it would have to be somewhere in the 1-2 million range. I am okay with a big power 5 game every few years as long as it isn’t every year like in the past.

If you want a football program body bag games for $$ is a reality

RE: 2018 Football Schedule - emu steve - 12-23-2017 04:47 PM

Watching two of our 2018 opponents, SDSU and Army.

They are playing pretty chippy. The two offensive stars, Bradshaw (Army) and Penny (SDSU) graduate after this game. :) x 4.

RE: 2018 Football Schedule - FrankAnderson - 12-23-2017 05:12 PM

SDSU will be a tough game next year. I still expect Army to be a good team next year, but they lose some major pieces. Especially Bradshaw, who is so critical to their offense.

RE: 2018 Football Schedule - emu steve - 12-23-2017 05:27 PM

BTW, question for anyone who follows Army: Did Army's success come after (QB) Bradshaw came to Army?

If you can 'read my mind' what will Army be like next year without him (Bradshaw)?

Bradshaw is special. Hard to think they'll replace him without at least a little drop off.

EMU got a good look at army this year and should be better against them.

This is a game EMU needs to win.
